2nd Teen Charged in Toronto-Area Synagogue Shootings

A second teenager has been arrested and faces multiple charges in connection with shootings at two synagogues in the Greater Toronto Area in March. A male teenager aged 17 from Waterloo has been charged with six counts related to his alleged involvement with shootings that took place on March 6 and 7, police said in a May 29 news release. On Friday, March 6, police responded to a shooting at the Beth Avraham Yoseph synagogue at the intersection of Clark Avenue West and York Hill Boulevard in Vaughan, finding the doors damaged by gunfire when they arrived. The occupants there at the time of the shooting were not injured.

Winnipeg Police Rescue 2 Teen Hostages After Standoff, Gunfire

Two teenagers were rescued by Winnipeg police after a man wanted on outstanding warrants allegedly took them hostage in their home, leading to a standoff that ended in gunfire. On May 29, police were attempting to arrest the 34-year-old fugitive, who has not been identified, when he ran off. He then broke into a house in the 400 block of King Edward Street and took hostages, according to the Winnipeg Police Service. Police had been pursuing the man after he rammed their vehicle and drove off when they attempted to perform a traffic stop on him at around 10:27 a.m., according to a May 30 news release.
