I found an old Sapphire Block Erupter USB from 2013 and decided to get it mining on Linux again. After several attempts, I discovered that I needed a specific version of CGMiner. In this article, I explain how to install dependencies, download and compile the miner, connect the device, and start mining. While obsolete for real mining, the Block Erupter is still useful for learning and experimenting with ASIC hardware.
