Humans: An Unexpected Player in Earth's Carbon Cycle

Humans might accidentally solve a planetary problem. Plants continuously remove carbon from the atmosphere, potentially depleting the carbon needed for photosynthesis. Volcanic activity used to balance this, but is decreasing. By extracting and burning fossil fuels, humans are redistributing carbon back into the atmosphere, potentially maintaining the carbon cycle. It's a provocative idea that suggests we're not just environmental destroyers, but possibly an unexpected part of Earth's complex life-sustaining system.
