Blow Out Eight. Lock Your Stake. Open the Community Door.

@splinterlands lit eight years with Tenrai and Suiko. August opened on Power Up Day — @hivebuzz and @alonicus put staking back on the calendar — and @ecency shipped a guide for giving a Hive community its own home.

This is HiveToday, a weekly recap of the Hive blockchain ecosystem.

New here? Hive uses delegated proof-of-stake. You elect witnesses to produce blocks. You can post, vote, and tip without paying gas on every click. The chain has been live since March 2020.

This Week on Hive

Staking culture set the tempo. @hivebuzz posted Hive Power Up Day for August 1st, then the July Power Up Month winners. About 494,000 HIVE powered up in seven days — led by large locks from @healthsquared and @strawhat — while power-downs still ran hotter overall. The point of the day stayed simple: show up and stake.

Ecency kept teaching ownership. @ecency published Give Your Hive Community Its Own Home, plus guides on daily quests and streaks, drafts and scheduled posts, and a frank free-rider essay. The team also posted an honest ask for 150 HBD a day to keep the product running — funding talk in public, not only feature notes.

Games and creators matched that energy. @splinterlands celebrated eight years and introduced Tenrai and Suiko (499 votes). @acidyo put Experimental Consumer Rewards live — the week’s top payout at about 299 HP, 894 votes, and 43 comments. @friendlymoose asked how to reduce mass extraction of Hive (117 comments) and pointed support through #hiveproject.

Meetup and conference threads stayed warm. @shadowspub ran the two-hour warning for Hive Thrive #67 with @thelogicaldude. @louis88 flagged CONF3RENCE 2026 in Dortmund as a HiveFest XI Swarm opportunity. @hivecreators opened a Hive Creators V2 proposal for open growth infrastructure, then wrote what that proposal process teaches. @hdev launched a HivePulse SEO contest with a 300 HIVE prize pool. @x-rain posted HivePosh Contest #91 results.

Four Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF) proposals stay above the return line, led by the HBD Stabilizer at 12,000 HBD per day. Print rate remains zero. For how that debt pause works, see issue #75.

Development Pulse

Core node: hive/hive queued Resource Credit (RC) rules for a future Hard Fork 29 — prep only, not live. Mainnet stays on Hard Fork 28. Peer dialing and IPv6 address handling got safer. Top-21 witnesses still run v1.28.x (many on v1.28.7).

hive.blog: hive/denser stopped showing the notification score as if it were reputation, and surfaces failed notification refetches instead of leaving stale lists silent.

HiveSense / API nodes: Missing-post retries are bounded, then skipped when a post will never return. Syncer logging and embedding options got clearer for operators. The block explorer can expose voter stake in proposal vote history.

Wax: Keychain signer role casing matches Keychain exactly; Python integration tracked hiveio-api updates.

3Speak: The Mantequilla Soft stack kept a busy July merge window on TV, embeds, hangouts, and Snapie playback — multi-embed work and HLS fixes for Chrome and Firefox.

HiveDevs feed: @thecrazygm shipped Hoverfly — a local Hive mock so you can test without a full testnet · @behiver added a light theme to HivePulse · @sagarkothari88 kept HiveSuite and HiveReactKit daily updates (mentions, media, profile drawers) · @hivepostify explained who sits behind signup tickets

Network Stats

Metric This week
HIVE price $0.0424
HIVE market cap ~$23.3M
HBD trading price ~$0.92
HBD trading market cap ~$30.2M
CoinGecko rank #735
24h change (HIVE) -0.76%
HBD print rate 0 (no new HBD minting)
HIVE powered up (7d) 494,478 HIVE
HIVE powered down (7d) 2,320,597 HIVE
Net stake change -1,826,119 HIVE

HBD explained: HBD is Hive’s dollar token. When debt gets too high, the chain stops minting new HBD. Print rate zero means that pause is still on. Trading prices and chain math differ. Full explainer: issue #75.

Powering up: @healthsquared led the seven-day table at about 117,600 HIVE. @strawhat followed at 100,000. Power-downs still far outpaced power-ups this week, even with Power Up Day on the calendar.

Governance

The top 21 witnesses stay on Hard Fork 28 — mostly v1.28.7, with others on 1.28.3 or 1.28.6. Hard Fork 29 RC consensus work merged in the node repo as prep only; no activation schedule on mainnet.
