Pro-government says ABA League refereeing met its standard after 40 games
The ABA League’s sports sector held an online meeting with representatives of all 20 clubs to review refereeing during the first four rounds of the season. The league said its assessment was based on measurable and verifiable data, rather than subjective judgments.

Miguel Ángel Pérez, chairman of the league’s Refereeing Commission, said officials had examined 722 incidents across 40 games. “We have not received a single club inquiry disputing any of the 722 situations analyzed,” he said, calling that “an objective fact.”

Pérez said the league could not describe the officiating as perfect—or even very good—but that it had met the standard set before the season. Two of the 40 games were rated below expectations, representing 5%, while no refereeing error was judged to have determined the winner in any match.

The review also addressed criticism surrounding games including Zadar–Ilirija and Spartak–Partizan. Pérez said both matches received above-average assessments from observers linked to the EuroLeague, despite later complaints about officiating.

The league said it had prepared a refereeing-criteria handbook for officials, observers and clubs, and now conducts weekly online meetings to analyze performances and identify areas for improvement. Reports containing key incidents and video footage are distributed to teams and referees.

A new video-replay tool has also been introduced to support more detailed analysis of disputed decisions. The league plans a late-November seminar covering officiating, communication, the Instant Replay System, physical preparation and knowledge of the rules.
