Pro-government says desperate search continues for Serbian teenager missing on Triglav
A major search was launched on Triglav after a 19-year-old Serbian national disappeared during a solo mountain trip in Slovenia. He reportedly set out on Saturday, October 31, 2026, along the route over Plemenica, one of the most demanding high-altitude paths leading toward the country’s highest peak.
Rescue teams from the Bovec and Mojstrana stations later located the teenager’s personal belongings at an altitude of 2,130 meters. Investigators also identified footprints in the snow descending toward approximately 1,900 meters, but strong winds subsequently erased the trail.
The search is being conducted by Slovenian mountain rescuers and police, with the Bovec police station leading operations on the ground. Reports describe the terrain as difficult and the conditions as extremely dangerous, with dense cloud cover and storm-force winds affecting the mountain.
Those conditions have prevented rescue helicopters from taking off. Teams have therefore continued the operation on foot, searching steep and exposed terrain despite the worsening weather. The rescuers have not announced that the missing hiker has been found.
The reports emphasize both the urgency of the operation and the uncertainty facing searchers: belongings have been located and a possible route downhill identified, but the disappearance point remains unclear and the available tracks have vanished. Rescue services are continuing the search while awaiting an improvement in visibility and wind conditions.
