Implementation Approach

The foundational workshop at Galleón Divers will introduce adults, merchants and community members to the history of money, Bitcoin, Lightning, security, self-custody and financial sovereignty. Participants will practice sending, receiving and confirming Lightning payments using a symbolic amount of sats.

The six monthly meetups will function as educational community workshops, with an expected attendance of 20–25 participants per session. Activities will include wallet practice, supervised Lightning transactions, domino games using sats and local spending at participating businesses.

SST will deliver two workshops at each of four schools, for a total of eight sessions reaching approximately 480 students. Students will learn about money, Bitcoin and digital payments through simulated buying and selling activities using sats.

Personnel involved in local excursions will also receive Bitcoin and Lightning training to help them explain, receive and confirm payments from visitors, supporting Bitcoin adoption through Monte Cristi’s emerging tourism activity.

SST will onboard approximately five merchants per month, reaching 30 businesses during the six-month period. Support will include Bitcoin and Lightning education, wallet setup, test payments, acceptance materials, BTC Map updates and continued follow-up. The goal is not only to list businesses, but to ensure they can independently receive, verify and continue accepting Lightning payments.

The implementation process will be documented through photos, videos and social media updates. Participating merchants will also be featured to increase their visibility and encourage residents and visitors to spend sats locally.

Implementation Team

Sandra: Community coordination, logistics, school and merchant relationships, participant outreach and follow-up.

Tokio: Bitcoin education, Lightning support, supervised transactions, BTC Map updates, documentation and reporting.

Local support: Ivelisse, Domingo, Cristal and Robinson will assist with community coordination, merchant introductions, participant mobilization, activity organization and local follow-up.

Expected Bitcoin Impact

During the first six months, SST expects to achieve:

· 30 Bitcoin-accepting merchants.

· Six educational meetups reaching approximately 120–150 total attendances.

· One foundational workshop for adults and merchants.

· Eight school workshops reaching approximately 480 students.

· Bitcoin and Lightning training for local excursion personnel.

· Practical Lightning transactions during workshops and meetups.

· More opportunities for residents and visitors to spend sats locally.

· Public documentation and promotion of participating merchants.

· Local participants prepared to share their knowledge and support others.

Impact will be measured through participants completing Lightning transactions, merchants receiving and verifying payments independently, increased local spending opportunities and continued Bitcoin use after the initial training.
