Watching Rasmus Hojlund score a brace for Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday, with both goals assisted by the equally rejuvinated Kevin De Bruyne, was a wonderful sight to see given the travails the young striker endured over the last few seasons.
To supplement the 21st Century Greats series, I felt it was important to recognise teams that have enjoyed success over the last 25 years also. Sport is not just about individuals and, in many instances, the whole is definitely more important than the parts that make it up.
Over the course of the year, I will be posting biographies of 25 modern sporting greats to celebrate being a quarter way through the 21st Century. As usual, these posts will combine a summary of some of their sporting achievements mixed with my own memories of watching them. There is no order to the list, just a celebration of fantastic sportspeople.
Tuesday night was just incredible. Being a Scotland fan over the years has been hard. Many near misses, underperformances when it really mattered and a number of false dawns really take it out of you. But Tuesday was a night that proved that it really is worthwhile to continue hoping and having just a little bit of faith.
