Origin Story

A few months ago, when vibecoding was starting to become more of a reality on #nostr with initiatives like @Team Soapbox ‘s https://shakespeare.diy/ , I had an idea that I had been marinating for a while and found myself wanting to have a go at this vibecoding hype.
As a non technical person with absolutely no training in software development or engineering I realized soon my limitations when I started building my idea on Shakespeare and noticed that $200 bucks into starting I was running into a lot of issues and problems I hadn’t thought through, but the tokens were running and the end was nowhere near, so I halted on my project, took the learnings and thought I’d pick back up the idea later.
@Derek Ross was right when he said we were paying for learning.

In any case, the months went by and under the mentorship of @Bitkarrot , whom I’ve been lucky to collaborate with on @HiveTalk , I started to learn to use some of the tools that would help me keep learning to vibecode under a tighter budget, even if it meant weekly token usage spent and having to wait on things. The result of months of learning and effort and trying to understand as much as I could is NosWalls.com .

What is NosWalls?

NosWalls started with the desire to share with my normie friends some curated content from Nostr, and the most basic iteration was for each user to be able to create walls they could pin content to. That way, when my friend recently interested in privacy asked me somewhere to start, i could simply direct them to my #Privacy wall from my @theBridge account without having to put on them the burden to find the interesting stuff on nostr going through all the content they weren’t interested in (and that normies sometimes get bombarded with upon joining nostr). It was meant to be a simple and easy way to direct people to Nostr content curated by their friends.

It was also meant to be a discoverability tool, using pins and walls to find people to follow according to the people whose events were pinned on specific walls, or simply seeing who had been creating or customizing their walls. Yes, customizing.
Customization was also something that felt important to me, not everyone wants their walls or their profiles experienced in the same way. Ditto has made great advances in customization and people have launched themselves at using it! (Maybe when I learn a bit more I can implement for people to be able to bring their custom skins from Ditto :P, love the magic of interoperability :) )
But in my case the type of customization I was interested in introducing was giving users the ability to choose which kind of content should have prominence in their profile or walls: do I want a wall that only shows media? do I want my profile to give prevalence to the articles I write? When I direct my friends to my profile or walls: What do I want them to see?

From all those questions and ideas Noswalls.com started to take shape. And right now I feel that, after months of silently working on it, it’s at a place where my impostor syndrome is comfortable sharing it for people to know of it. See if people find value in it, if nostriches play with it and create walls that I can favorite and have easy access to, if I discover cool content thanks to people pinning interesting stuff.
I’m sure there will be plenty of issues that will come up, as with any project, (although I can confirm FOLLOWS are safe since I put a lot of effort into it after having had my follow list nuked by so many new clients :).

In any case, this is a starting point, and I know the features and direction I want to take this in: giving value to human curation over algorythms.
