The journey of Oliver continues in this thrilling quest that picks up where “24” left off, with an intriguing message left in a mysterious transaction on the timechain: “Obelisk, July 18”. And from that clue more will emerge to lead us deeper into the rabbit hole of Oliver’s adventure.

PRIVACY: A GAME OF HIDING

One of the first things that struck me is the seamless way in which key concepts of #privacy and bitcoin ownership are weaved into the story. Oliver, now holder of a treasure in need of hiding. Oliver, now navigating a secret worldwide network filled with prying eyes, in need of cover. The need to be able to selectively reveal parts of himself and hide others becomes an important aspect of Oliver’s life, and with that need come its inescapable limitations.

This is specially enhanced as in this sequel we are invited to also follow the point of view of those seeking to unmask everything about the secrets that Oliver is trying to hide. In a chase of cat and mouse we journey into each of Oliver’s “recon missions” poignantly aware that any mistake is gonna lead him straight to his chasers.

THE SURREALIST LAYERS

“How could a man free a thought from a cage of light?“

The surrealist layers in the narrative take us down Oliver’s “darkest night of the soul”, exploring the meanings of the absence of the Noncemeister, as well as the seductive whispers of a new mistress that only seems to drown him further into his newly acquired taste for expensive wine and separates him from everything he holds dear.

And as the surrealist universe of the story reveals itself through Oliver’s projections we are led deeper into the mysteries hidden in the Bryce paintings and the civilization of Atlanteans that emerge from them. An open door into an ever expanding universe holding many of the keys to the questions that Oliver yearns to answer.

Travels all over the world, alliances and betrayals, friends and foes, all of them converging in this growing mystery in which each opened door leads to more questions and revelations. And among those one certainty: he is not alone. And this journey of tests has only but shown him who will walk relentlessly with him to unveil the mysteries of his tale, with its open ending, that reveals a much larger quest on the horizon which promises to be worth the read.
