Lotus v0.4.3
Highlights
-
Cinema opens to a lobby. A front page built from what you are partway through, who you follow, what is live now, and topics you actually watch, all worked out on your own device.
-
Search lives in the tabs. One search box in the Cinema header that narrows to whichever tab you are on, and follows you when you switch.
-
See who is live at a glance. A quiet ring appears around anyone you follow the moment they go live, on their card, on a video page, in a live room and on radio.
-
More to watch, right beside the player. Related shows from the same creator and picks from similar topics now sit next to what you are watching, and below live rooms too.
-
Reader turns longform into something worth reading. Links become real embeds, images and audio play inline, interviews get proper layouts, and podcast posts become a full episode player with chapters.
-
Your month as a list, and drag to reschedule. Month, week and day can switch to a clean list layout, and any entry can be dragged to a new time with an eight second undo.
-
A wallet built for phones. Send, Scan and Receive lead the front page, every dialog opens as a sheet with the important button in view, and Scan works out what to do with an invoice, address or voucher.
-
Bookmarks that are quicker to fill. A calmer toolbar, importing that works properly on a phone, and saving a page by typing its address without waiting for a preview.
-
Everything Lotus stores for you is verified before it is replaced. Your drafts, calendars, contacts, follows and payment records are only ever written over once Lotus has confirmed what is really there, so a slow or unreachable server can never cost you your work.
UI/UX
-
Creating something on a phone. The window for a task, appointment or event is now a proper bottom sheet: the body scrolls to its end and the action row stays pinned, so Save is always reachable instead of sitting behind the browser toolbar.
-
A calmer chat. The hover action bar no longer sits on top of the message it belongs to, so it stops covering the last line of text and the reaction pills underneath.
-
Topics opens on everything. Categories with something live, playing or posted right now lead the row, with the quieter ones one tap away, and results appear as they arrive rather than waiting for everything.
-
One clear way to say something could not be confirmed. When Lotus is showing what your device holds but could not reach your servers, every app now says so in the same quiet, consistent way, where you are actually working.
Bug Fixes
-
Fixed an issue where a partial read could empty your task list.
-
Fixed an issue where opening a message in Mail could remove saved drafts.
-
Fixed an issue where following or unfollowing someone could shorten your following list, and where the follows export could produce an empty file.
-
Fixed an issue where saving a calendar entry could replace your calendar list, entry assignments, subscriptions and approved collaborators.
-
Fixed an issue where deleting a note could remove an image still used by another note.
-
Fixed an issue where people you had blocked could stop being blocked, and where retrying reported success without restoring them.
-
Fixed an issue where deleted items could reappear across Calendar, Forms, Maps, Drive, Pages, Scheduling and Bookmarks.
-
Fixed an issue where recording a payment could shorten your payment history, and where paid server access could be reported as unpaid.
-
Fixed an issue where creating an invoice could clear saved business details, and where a partial read could reuse an existing invoice number.
-
Fixed an issue where adding a custom emoji could remove other custom emoji and packs.
-
Fixed an issue where editing your profile in Lotus could drop fields written by other Nostr apps.
-
Fixed an issue where a saved change that never reached a server could still be reported as saved.
-
Fixed an issue where Cinema categories missed videos that had no tags, so a video was findable by search but not by topic.
-
Fixed an issue where some external Lightning wallets failed to connect.
-
Fixed an issue where the Admin members list showed a shortened key and a placeholder image instead of each member’s real name and picture.
Code Quality
-
Added a shared layer for stored documents that requires a verified read before a record can be replaced, enforced when the code is compiled rather than by convention.
-
Extracted the read and write ordering rules into their own tested units, covering timestamp ordering, queued saves and what a set of server answers actually proves.
-
Added a shared component for the unconfirmed state so every app presents it identically.
-
Expanded the test suite by around eighty cases, focused on partial reads and refused saves.
Technical Updates
-
Improved read reliability so a request that timed out is no longer treated as a server’s answer, which is what the storage guarantees above are built on.
-
Added continuous integration running typechecking, the full test suite and a production build on every change.
-
Updated nostr-core from 1.0.0 to 1.0.3, keeping current behaviour unchanged.
