Voca 1.1.1 Keeps Its Place

Voca 1.1.1 is out. Most of the work went into keeping the screen and the audio in step.

The highlight and the playback controls now stay with the speech when you tap quickly, scroll by hand, jump between sentences, or change the speed partway through. Short passages and ones crowded with punctuation hold up too. The point is simple: the sentence on screen should match the sentence coming through the speaker, even when you move around or change pace.

The remaining-time estimate follows the audible speech, including when playback crosses from one queue item to the next. It gives you a better sense of how much listening time is left.

Nostr imports are less fragile when a profile lookup drags. Signed content resolves faster, and the note is kept if that optional lookup is slow or unavailable. Bare event references are handled safely. Relay resolution and signature checks are still mandatory and fail closed.

Voca reads articles, web pages, PDFs, Markdown files, Nostr notes, and subscriptions in a private on-device queue, using the voice your phone is already configured with. It runs on Android 10 and newer, and GrapheneOS is the main target.

Voca 1.1.1 is version code 72, and the Zapstore download matches the locally verified release build. The hosted APK also passed an in-place update from 1.1.0, code 71, on the GrapheneOS Pixel 6a used for release testing. The install timestamp stayed intact, and the app opened cleanly.

The source is published over Nostr with NIP-34 and ngit at the Voca repository, and the release is on Zapstore.
