Looking Back

Some experiences don’t change your life overnight.

Instead, they quietly plant a seed that continues to grow long after the event is over.

For us at Hope With Bitcoin, one of those moments happened on April 12, 2026, when Benin welcomed the Sats On The Road journey.

Led by @thecoachayobami, the initiative traveled from Nigeria through Benin and Togo before reaching Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, for the Conférence Bitcoin Afrique.

At first, we believed we were simply attending another Bitcoin meetup.

Looking back today, we realize we were witnessing one of the experiences that would influence the future of our project.

During the event, we had the opportunity to meet remarkable Bitcoin builders from across Africa, including @kesterbils, @malkrite, @CryptoAfriqueF1, @Queen_DIAMOND7, @mehounme, and many others working tirelessly to accelerate Bitcoin adoption throughout the continent.

However, what left the biggest impression on us wasn’t simply meeting inspiring people.

It was seeing Bitcoin used naturally in everyday life.

Restaurants accepted Bitcoin.

Merchants accepted Bitcoin.

Ordinary purchases were completed with sats.

For the first time, we experienced what a circular Bitcoin economy could actually look like—not as an idea, but as reality.

One memorable moment was enjoying our first plate of Attiéké, paid for entirely with Bitcoin.

That simple meal became a powerful reminder that Bitcoin is far more than an investment.

It is money that people can actually use.

Later that day, during the meetup at Soroc, discussions focused on collaboration between Bitcoin projects, strengthening local communities, encouraging businesses to accept Bitcoin, and expanding real-world adoption across Africa.

One question remained at the center of every conversation:

How can Bitcoin improve people’s lives?

That question continues to guide Hope With Bitcoin today.

Many of the humanitarian missions we have organized since then have been inspired by the conversations, ideas, and relationships built during that day.

We believe humanitarian aid should do more than provide temporary relief.

It should restore dignity.

Create opportunity.

Empower communities.

Bitcoin gives us a unique way to achieve that mission by connecting generous people around the world directly with those who need support the most.

Looking back, Sats On The Road wasn’t simply another event we attended.

It became part of the story that shaped Hope With Bitcoin.

We’re grateful to everyone who shared that journey with us.

As our mission continues to grow, we hope to keep building bridges between the global Bitcoin community and vulnerable communities across Africa.

Together, we can demonstrate that Bitcoin is not only changing finance.

It is changing lives.

One meal.

One act of kindness.

One smile.
