nice. btw it has NWC lightning wallet and nip 60 (i think) cashu wallet as well.
the original sits on my hdd so i’m gonna mod it later rebrand as the smesh signer to go with the smesh stack, which is going to be a one stop everything, kind 1, relay feeds, my NIRC variant of relay based group chats with standard IRC style config, market, documents like alexandria, blossom storage management for the relay, event recovery, import/export of relay event stores, calendar, project management. it’s gonna be a hub for sovereign communities, my first cohort will be liberland
https://spatianostra.com/a-simple-list-of-nostr-signers/
Its not much, but this list is probably the most shared-around little resource that I have put togther so far.
that’s the one. Zaza was the designer of that logo.
Is the logo a pink P with a hat?
plebeian signer. though i will build it out with the smesh branding later.
i was so chuffed to learn that smesh means “you dare” as in “how dare you!?” and “you are allowed”. it’s a perfect meme for what i’m trying to do, and always had in my mind. i do it all the time now, been working on unblocking a holding pattern in my neck that developed through infant trauma that claude decoded from dreams and recollections. it’s calming me down a lot, and then i follow that up with asking claude to use wu xing 5 element system to decode the tactical situation and suggest the approach that precisely and effectively stops the oppression.
I hope you can, too. You’re obviously a smart guy but a bit too defensive in sitautions that may not warrant so much aggression.
And thank you. I try to write about things that I believe can help average users enjoy nostr. I hope I can write about somw of your contributions when they are ready. Speaking of which, what was the name of your signer? And you said it was on chromestore, correct? I wanted to add it to my list of suggestions but my bookmarks got wiped by yoloing into clients, before i could do that.
yeah, i don’t want to get on the wrong side of the village, or the police. no problem to do the aikido tactics on the idiots that do think they can stop us from doing what we should not have to fight for. but then this is the world we live in. the meek have not stood up because they don’t understand how they are being dominated. that is now ending, for my part at least. i’ve been using the ai to teach me how to do aikido with law and social situations.
sure, i still explain a lot of things that most don’t need to read but for those with the capacity to think and read, i think it’s respectful to be clear.
i hope i can make up for my bad behaviour in the past. lots of good people on nostr who deserve to have a competent foil for those who are just plain out lying or misinformed.
i’ve got a mission to do that i’m working towards - to empower the liberlanders on this side of the border (i’m in the adjacent village on the croatian side) to organise and get the police off their cases, and the villagers who matter, on our side. that requires systems that do what nostr should do, and i have got things moving in the right direction so that instead of people protesting and fighting for muh rights they respect the locals and actually contribute something to the best path to accessing their land.
i didn’t want to join in with their efforts because they just seemed like they didn’t get it that they were cutting the limb they sit on in their indignation. the same problem is what i was doing with my approach to helping nostr become what it is marketed as.
respect. i know you do great work.
😅 oops, I didn’t ask for anyone’s permission. Oh well..
never would have to. i don’t do things that way. my definition of decentralized is not controversial, just that the understanding of how that plays out in implementations is poorly understood because people say these words as marketing instead of factual descriptions of the systems they build.
and before you start asking me whether i have a CS degree. no i don’t. and having spent a year with a junior who was fresh out of berkeley, sure, he could write some code but he was lazy and he also had weak understanding of distributed systems theory.
my point is not to criticise, it’s to educate. i think my explanations of why all the trendy things in nostr don’t constitute decentralization were pretty clear, asking questions is a good thing. justifying why you just work with what exists isn’t a sin, either, even when you do know it’s not quite right. not that many people, as i just pointed out, can even design them properly.
i like to throw a cat among the pigeons a lot but it’s a bad approach. i need to lead by example, which is why you can expect in the next month or two i will have a whole stack that you can build from to make actually decentralized nostr mesh instead of these half measures that hand power to people who are abusing the word “decentralized” as a marketing tactic, no different to shitcoiners.
But Dawn, why should you be able to run your own relay as you see fit? Isn’t it much more important you fit into mlekus little box of what they consider Nostr should be? Why should you be able to do things the way you want on Nostr?
Did you ask mlekus permission?
I am able to write PoW notes on my old phone and cheap laptop just fine. The requirement can be adjusted or turned off completely. It’s only for DMs and I have our community’s set quite low.
I have little to no influence over anything but my own choices on how to best utilize nostr in a way that doesn’t give me the ick. Pyramid helps with that a lot. If my friends agree with me, I don’t see why that is a problem. Plus this is the first relay I’ve been able to deploy & run as a non-technical person. That’s a huge plus.
By utilizing my pyramid to its fullest capacity, I am aware that I am limiting my visibility to my friends who use incompatible clients. Yet, anyone who joins a pyramid can write to those client-connected relays or other big relays in addition to the community relay and still be seen in follow feeds everywhere. Im all in on small relays & I can still see my friends’ notes in outbox clients and that matters more to me than if they see my notes. If I need to contact them, I can tag them. And to the best of my knowledge, I’m not missing many legitimate replies.
I understand the limitations that WoT inbox relays place on new users. In an environment where bots and assholes are in higher abundance than potential new friends, the tradeoff keeps nostr usable. I can always find new users through hashtags, content discovery feeds, other people’s replies, and discussion threads.
lol.
it’s quite funny that people don’t understand that is what all these ’spam protection“ systems are. or that two of the most mercenary developers in the ecosystem are in control of option 3 which cascades to the other two modifying it by fiefdoms.
so much for decentralization. if will (core 30 fan) and miljan (representative of his investors) don’t like you, you are invisible. if you don’t have GPU, or your phone is old, you have to wait minutes to get on UTXO one and other PoW relay operators.
freedom? decentralization? that’s the sacrificial lamb for these piss simulations of spam protection.
