Three Tens, One Beginning

New Moon in Libra
Three Tens, One Beginning

There is a moment, usually late in the afternoon, when you realize you’ve been bracing.

Not for anything in particular. Just a low, steady readiness for the next message, the next headline, the next thing someone wants from you. Most of us have lived like this for so long that we’ve stopped noticing it as a state at all.

This week, the sky is asking you to notice. And so, rather unsubtly, is the bond market.

Today, the tenth of October, we have the New Moon in Libra at 17°. The calendar has arranged itself into a pattern I couldn’t leave alone. October is the tenth month. Today is the tenth day. And 2026 adds up to ten (2 + 0 + 2 + 6). Every ten reduces to one, the number of beginnings.

Three tens. One beginning, stacked on itself three times.

This New Moon turns inward

Libra is the sign of balance, partnership, and the scales. A Libra New Moon normally sends our attention outward, toward the people we love and the agreements we hold.

But Libra is ruled by Venus, and Venus stationed retrograde on the third of October. She won’t station direct until the thirteenth of November. So the energy that would usually travel toward other people is doubling back. Venus rules love, and she also rules value, and when she retraces her steps, she asks what we’ve been calling worth.

Hold that second meaning, because it matters for what follows.

A permission slip for the Venus retrograde

Between now and the thirteenth of November, the old rule of thumb is to avoid starting new relationships and to leave the dating apps alone. Treat it as a permission slip. You are allowed to not be searching. You are allowed to get clear on what you desire before you go looking for it. If something was already in motion before the third of October, it can carry on.

The work of this window is internal, and it begins with peace. We tend to treat peace as something we should hold permanently, and then feel we’ve failed when the world interrupts. Libra offers a kinder definition: Peace is a center of gravity you return to, again and again.

Boundaries protect that center. So ask yourself, quietly, where you’ve been saying yes when you mean no.

Today is a Saturday, which makes it a good day to plant something. Write three present-tense intentions, one for each ten:

  1. Who you are becoming

  2. How you want to be loved

  3. The life you are building

This New Moon makes a supportive sextile to Jupiter in Leo, which tends to bring unexpected help when you begin from self-worth. On the fifteenth, the Sun sextiles Jupiter too, and that support can feel warmer and more visible.

What the world is asking of you right now

Here is where the inner and outer weather meet.

If you’ve felt braced lately, the world has given you reasons. The United States and Israel began attacking Iran on the twenty-eighth of February, and the conflict has run through much of this year. The Strait of Hormuz, which carries about a fifth of the world’s daily oil in peacetime, has been closed and reopened on an on-again, off-again basis, and crude briefly came close to a record near $126 in late April. Today Brent sits just above $103. That is a calmer number than the spring, though hardly a quiet one, and also a number no one believes reflects reality.

Oil matters because it feeds straight into the thing central banks fear most. In September, the ISM services prices index climbed to 74, and the Fed has responded. It raised rates by a quarter point to 4.0% on the sixteenth of September, the first increase since 2023. Markets now believe the next meeting, on the twenty-eighth of October, is more likely to be a pause, with a December hike priced at roughly three-in-four odds. Nothing is settled.

And then there’s the bond market, which is where the pressure is showing most plainly. The ten-year Treasury yield stood near 5.31% this week, the thirty-year near 5.69%. For context, the ten-year began 2026 around 4.15%. Behind that sits a heavy supply story, with total federal debt passing $40 trillion in August and the Treasury expecting to borrow $628 billion in the fourth quarter alone. In August, the pressure grew intense enough that Treasury Secretary Bessent moved to double buybacks to relieve the long end.

Look, the reality is that when the world’s benchmark for “safe” starts to feel unsettled, people begin asking what else they can trust. Gold has been range-bound, hovering around $4,150 with a firm dollar capping it, and the dollar index has pushed to new 2026 highs. High real yields and a strong dollar have made it a difficult year for anything that pays no interest.

How this connects to Venus

Venus rules value. When she goes retrograde, the question of value comes back around for review, and this year the review is public. A ten-year yield above five percent is the market repricing what it thinks a promise to repay is worth.

The same thing happens inside us. If you’ve been saying yes when you mean no in your personal life, there’s a decent chance you’ve been doing it with your capital too. Maybe following a narrative you never believed or selling when the room got loud.

On the twenty-third, Venus goes cazimi at 0° of Scorpio, sitting in the heart of the Sun, a kind of burning clean and starting over. In Scorpio, it touches debt, trust, and shared resources, which is rather precisely the territory the bond market sits in right now.

On the twenty-fourth, Mercury stations retrograde at 20° of Scorpio and stays retrograde until the thirteenth of November, the very day Venus turns direct. Mercury rules communication, and the Fed’s own messaging may matter as much as its decisions, so it’s worth noting that the October meeting falls squarely inside this retrograde. Revisions, reversals, and clarifications are the natural language of these weeks. On a personal level, it’s also a fine time to check your custody setup and reread anything you signed quickly.

On the twenty-fifth, Venus slips back into Libra, and the same day brings the Full Moon at 2° of Taurus. Taurus is also Venus-ruled, and it asks what is tangible, what you actually own, and whether it makes you feel secure.

Bitcoin across three time horizons

I want to separate these, because they tell different stories.

The immediate term. Two transits touch Bitcoin’s natal chart. On the thirteenth, the North Node makes a semisquare to Bitcoin’s natal Sun, a minor aspect that feels more like persistent friction than crisis. Then on the eighteenth, transiting Jupiter opposes Bitcoin’s natal Neptune. Jupiter expands, Neptune dissolves, and in market terms that can mean a surge of narrative and idealism that races ahead of the evidence.

You can already see the tension and confusion in the data. Bitcoin is trading near $83,000; after a weekly low of about $80,400 on the eighth, the week was a soft one compared to recent weeks. However, considering the global landscape, Bitcoin has also shown real resilience. When the Senate rejected the CLARITY Act by a single vote and the Fed hiked, Bitcoin still rallied about 14% within a week. Neither the strong bull story nor the bear story fits comfortably right now, and Neptune is rather good at presiding over that kind of ambiguity. This is a window to ask which narratives are grounded in data and which are simply attractive. Apply these questions both to Bitcoin and to narratives we have held as truth for our whole lives.

The medium term. The retrogrades give us a reassessment season running to mid-November, and the Fed’s October and December meetings sit inside it. Investor psychology often turns reflective in these stretches. Narratives get revised, decisions get delayed, and the regulatory question, including what happens after the CLARITY Act’s defeat, keeps returning. The honest summary is that Bitcoin is currently trading as a liquidity-sensitive asset, closely tied to yields, the dollar, and oil, rather than as the clean safe haven some of us hoped it would be by now.

It’s worth remembering the last time Jupiter moved through Leo, roughly twelve years ago, a stretch that followed the Mt. Gox collapse and felt, for many holders, like a long, quiet rebuilding. I’m not suggesting history repeats. I’m suggesting Jupiter in Leo has a way of revealing what you believe once the crowd goes quiet.

The long arc. Zoom out far enough and the picture changes. A government borrowing hundreds of billions a quarter, a bond market testing multi-decade highs in yields, a conflict that keeps threatening the flow of global trade: these are the pressures that make people re-examine what money actually is.

Bitcoin’s supply is fixed and doesn’t depend on any auction going well. Bitcoin peaked near $126,000, creating the most recent all-time high a year ago, which puts it roughly a third below that high currently. But its case has always been a longer one, measured in cycles rather than weeks. In the context of the 18-year nodal reset and generational cycles, all signs point toward a decade of monetary rethinking rather than a single month of price action. What happens between here and there will not be linear, but as trust in the traditional macro landscape falters, the case for Bitcoin’s fundamentals continues to strengthen.

There’s something interesting about the shape of this cycle: it opens with a New Moon asking you to know yourself, and closes with a Full Moon asking what you truly hold. In between, Venus and Mercury invite you to review what you value and what you’ve been told.

So plant something honest in the void of the New Moon today. Then give it time.

I’ll see you for the next episode of The Bitcoin Zodiac.

Until then, Peace, Love, and Bitcoin ✌️🧡₿
