Hello everyone and welcome to the Cinema Slime Podcast, my name is Harrison and today we are going to be going over Season 1 Episode 7 of Spider-Man Noir entitled, Nobody’s Here and I can tell ya, if no one is here after this episode I get it. In this episode… not much happens but we do get to see the antidote in action giving us a bit of hope for the super powered beings.

With the majority of the super powered of New York in his pocket, Silvermane is pushing forward with his plan to cause mayhem, buy votes, and defeat the Spider once and for all. His super powered goons casually stroll into the campaign offices for Mayor Morris, terrorizing the workers and stealing as much dough as possible. Yes they are super powered beings, but you think they would put up at least a sliver of a fight. Flint is in on the heist, but he won’t go as far as killing anyone - remember we still need Cat to be justified in wanting to be with him.

We then shift to Ben Reily, whose strolled into a bar and is scratching the bottom of his glass. He has the antidote in hand and doesn’t know how to proceed. He pours his worries on the bar keep, who could care less, as a group of goons walk in, talking about the money being handed out by Silvermane, their plans to vote for him, and how The Spier is a weak fool who couldn’t do anything to stop it. Ben gets really angry and just decides to kick the crap out of them, just to prove to himself that he is a powerful being. It’s a rather painful scene honestly that, to me, proves that he is washed up and shouldn’t have the responsibility of having those powers. Ben agrees with me as he talked over what he just did with Robbie who can no longer watch Ben fall into disrepair. Ben doesn’t want the responsibility anymore and plans to take the antidote to depower himself. Robbie steps in and tells him that he has had all the opportunity to take it, and yet he hasn’t. Robbie is tired of helping Ben climb out of the hole he has dug himself into and tells him he needs to step up.

This all culminates in the final scene where Ben has divvied up small samples of the antidote and is planning on administering them to the other dying super powered people. First up is Lonnie and we immediately run into the problem that his skin is indestructible, no needle can pierce it. In this moment I’m thinking “How are they going to pull this off? Squirt in his mouth? Under the tongue?” I did not expect Robbie to pick it up and stab right into his eye! A legitimate reaction from me. Afterwards they escape and Lonnie heads out of town to lead a normal life.

Overall this episode just felt very small compares to all the other ones. The big fight scene just felt like an angry man letting out his feelings, which could be a valid scene in different context. We know that Ben doesn’t want to be The Spider so it just felt a bit strange for him to be so defensive about some random people making fun of him. The groundwork is laid for the final episode of the series which I hope will wrap everything up nice and neat.
