Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26 this year. If you are hosting kids, the hour between “we’re here” and “dinner’s ready” is the hard part. Here is the plan we use: cheap, printable, and set up in ten minutes.
1. Put something on the table before anyone sits down
A bingo card and a crayon at every seat. Kids start playing the second they sit, and adults get to talk. Free picture cards for little ones: Thanksgiving bingo for kindergarten.
2. Have one game for the kids’ table
Keep it quiet and seated: I-spy lists, a word hunt, “would you rather” cards. Our list of Thanksgiving games for the kids’ table covers ages 3 to 12.
3. One game the whole family plays after dinner
Trivia works for every age if you mix easy and hard questions. Free questions and an answer key: Thanksgiving trivia for families.
4. A two-minute gratitude moment
Go around the table with one prompt each (“Something that made you laugh this year”). More ideas for the whole week: gratitude activities for kids.
5. Teachers: run the same thing in class on Tuesday
Thanksgiving bingo for the classroom has a calling list and ready-to-print cards.
6. Keep the potluck from going over budget
A sign-up sheet stops the “four pies, no rolls” problem: potluck sign-up and budget.
Everything above is free, with no sign-up and no ads. If you want a ready-made printable set, the Thanksgiving Kids Party Games Pack and Thanksgiving Bingo are in our Etsy shop.
Happy Thanksgiving. — Plainbook Studio
