Getting aquainted:
Spatia-arcana.com is an semi-closed, invite-only, nostr-based community, operating on a Pyramid multi-relay system. We don’t have a “thing” or a “theme” so much as we are just a tiny band of mistfits, aiming to create a unique an interesting way to experience social media. There are many ways to get involved or lots of the really cool features to use. Once you’ve been invited, if or how you participate is up to you. There are lots of options, with varying levels of involvement, from set-it-and-forget-it to actively helping with public feed curation.
Set & Write/Outbox to SA: wss://spatia-arcana.com can be set in your profile relay list as a write/outbox. This will serve your notes to your followers as well as place them in the SA relay feed, viewable in many Nostr clients. (Some iOS clients do not have support independant outbox relays, so if you have iphone friends, be sure to keep a fully iOS compatible relay in your profile outboxes, too.)
Writing Single Notes to SA: If you prefer to keep your profile outboxes set to other relays, you can also publish to the Spatia-Arcana feed in clients like Jumble or Fevela. Granular publishing options can be accessed through the note composer in each of these clients, just below the text box. Save SA as a ‘favorite relay’ to easily access it anytime. Alternatively, you can choose to send your notes there while viewing the relay’s feed. Using these clients, while posting to only to Spatia-Arcana will created ‘protected’ notes that live solely within the SA feed. This method is handy for sharing and discussing things that you may not want to put directly in front of your followers. (Other clients that support a granular level of publishing like this include Coracle, Nosotros, Lumilumi, and Nostur. Method and specifics are too broad for this guide but feel free to hit me up with any questions.)
Reduce Notification Spam and Receive Secure DMs with SA: If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by bot replies & DM spam, your membership can help. Add wss://spatia-arcana.com/inbox to your profile’s relay list. The subrelay filters incoming public replies and other actions through a unified web of trust based on the entire membership tree. You can guard your DMs with it, too, by setting it as a DM relay in any client that supports NIP-17 compliant DMs, including Wisp, Amethyst, and Flotilla (probably many more). Our PoW requirement for DMs is currently set at 7.
Visiting the Spatia-Arcana Homepage: You can go straight to https://spatia-arcana.com and explore many of the features and feeds from there. Click the login button to wake up your nSigner browser extension . If no browser extension is detected, a login window will pop up, prompting you to sign in with your remote signer. Once logged in, all available member options will be unlocked.
Inviting others: Copy and paste another person’s npub into the field and click invite to add them to the community. Each community member acts as the sponsor to their invitees. You can drop or disable your invited members. Disabling will keep their invitees active, and dropping will remove everyone that user has invited, along with the user in question. Your available number of invitations is visible on your account information page, accessed by clicking on your name at the top right of the page. On your page you will be able to view your personal usage statistics, claim your <@spatia-arcana.com> username/nostr address, and sync your notes from other relays, as well.
NIP-05 username/address: Choose and enter any username that you want, as long as it is not already in use by any other member of the community. Cick anywhere outside the box to save, then visit the profile editing section in any social client under your profile settings.
Syncing between relays: If you want to duplicate your notes to or from other relays, add the relay URL in the remote relay box and check the a box. “Fetch from” syncs events from Spatia-Arcana to the remote relay. “Publish to” syncs events from the remote relay to the community. Syncing helps to keep your notes searchable within the community. Since this a hobby project for me, Spatia-Arcana can offer no gaurantees for available space or retention timeframes. If you need long-term storage,please consider backing up your notes on a personal relay or with a commercial archive service.
Services:
Click on the Services tab to check out chat groups, grasp, paywall features, and blossom media hosting.
Group Chats: All chat groups available to each member will be listed here. You can conveniently hop into any of the them with the client links provided, or you can copy the group ID to access the groups from your preferred NIP-29 client. You can also create your own group chats with various privacy settings. Both you and Spatia-Arcana administators can act as moderators of these groups, no matter which level of privacy you choose. Unrestricted groups will be accessible to anyone and other community members do not need to explicitly join the group to participate. Group chat invite codes can be created within some group chat clients, making it easy to share access with your friends. (Again, since Spatia-Arcana is a hobby project, please don’t use private group chats in nefarious ways. I’ll have zero tolerance for it. I doubt there is any need to say that because SA members are awesome, but I feel compelled to put that in writing since I am signing this hahaha)
Blossom: Your Spatia-Arcana membership includes 500mb of Blossom media hosting. This amount is subject to change and comes with no gaurantees for storage time. If you should choose to utilize it, you may do so by adding https://spatia-arcana.com as a media host in your profile. This is a fairly widespread feature, so if you have doubts about where to manage your media hosts, just ask! I’m happy to point you in the right direction. Additionally, try an Nostr tool like Bouquet or Aither on Android to mirror your media to other hosts, in case I disappear or go too broke to pay for our storage :) From the SA homepage, you can upload or delete your files, copy links, and monitor your available storage capacity. I’ll be sure to annouce any changes that I make to or message members, if I run into any problems. For full clarity, I do have full access to your images. Please store your eggplants and peaches someplace else.
**Grasp: **I can’t code. Maybe someday. But until then, I do have the Grasp server enabled for SA members and it is already in use. If you are able to use it, you probably don’t need me to tell you about it… please feel free to mirror your repositories.
Paywall: This is a relatively new thing. I don’t think there are very many clients supporting this yet, if any. The idea being, that you can set up a subscriber list for exclusive content, with payment handled off-relay. I’ll update this as it becomes more broadly usable. If you are up for experimentation, it is currently enabled and ready for your tests.
The Interactive Subrelays:
wss://spatia-arcana.com/favorites aka Dilectus: We’re curating! Well, a few of us are, but any member can with Jumble, Fevela, x21, and other clients that support republishing. Click the 3-dot menu on any note and choose ‘republish’. The option will open your favorite relay list, where you can choose the target location. Right now, feed themes include anything to do with the moon, esoteric content, mystic visuals, music, ancient knowledge, and artisan craft. The only limitations are that you cannot republish your own notes or republish protected notes. This is a fun feed that anyone can browse, so I appreciate all the help I can get in making it lively and interesting.
wss://spatia-arcana.com/internal : This one is a member’s-only feed. Only members can read and only members can write. You must use a client that supports protected notes and granular publishing, like Jumble, Fevela, and Nostur. I currently use this to make annoucements about new features, provide member tips, and to field the occasional question. That can change at anytime. If you want to chat with other members in a semi-private space, you are more than welcome. I had a chat group set up for user education, too, so there will be no loss in letting this become whatever members want it to be. Just open the relay view and browse, reply, or post. These relay-aware clients will handle the rest for you.
wss://spatia-arcana.com/personal : This one is basically a personal notebook, only you can see your own notes. A client capable of granular read/writes is again required to use this. Nothing is encrypted, just simply not visible to others. As the relay operator, I do have access to these notes but I have no interest in your to-do lists and I have too many of my own ideas to steal any of yours. Feel free to use it as you see fit. Just as above, no additonal steps are required to make use of this, beyond visiting through an appropraite client.
wss://spatia-arcana.com/moderated : I have this enabled, in hopes that maybe somebody will help me spearhead a movement to use it… or give me ideas that we would like to see there. Non-members can submit PoW notes that SA members can approve for the feed. If you have ideas on how to get this moving, I would love to hear them.
The Automated Subrelays:
wss://spatia-arcana.com/lux : Latin for light, this subrelay listens for what is popular among the Spatia-Arcana community. This is strictly a browsing feed, meant to be enjoyed both by members and visitors from outside of the community. This is a great feed to share with your friends, to show them how much fun we have on Nostr… and in Spatia-Arcana.
wss://spatia-arcana.com/nox : Latin for night, Nox is similar to Lux in the way that is listens for member activity, but it ignores our replies and requires a higher threshold of activity for notes to appear in the feed. The result is a slower, more thought-provoking feed (usually) and a great way to showcase the quality of content that SA members enjoy.
