Nostr ist ist das Acronym für “Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays”. Notes sind Kurznachrichten, das Pendant zu den Tweets von Twitter, inzwischen gibt es über 25 Nostr-Apps für diese Form des Micro-Bloggings. Die Pluralität ist der erste gravierende Unterschied von Nostr, diverse Apps können die Daten prozessieren (gemäß der NIP-Standards), die auf Relays gespeichert sind und dem Nutzer gehören.

Ein weiterer Unterschied resultierend aus Standards und Offenheit des Protokolls ist die Unbegrenztheit der Möglichkeiten. Das Nostr-Ökosystem, bestehend aus tausenden Relays, ergänzt durch Medienserver (Blossom), Lightning-Nodes, eCash-Mints, KI-Agenten usw. ist eine verteilte Public Cloud ohne künstliche Beschränkungen wie Nutzerkonten, Lizenz-Verträge und Landeswährungen. Resümee

Nostr-Apps gibt es für Desktop und Mobile, sowie alle Betriebssysteme und Browser. Da sich Daten, Identität und Social Graph auf den Relays befinden, sind die Anwendungen geräteunabhängig (Multi-Device fähig), ohne aufwändige Synchronisation. Bei Nostr gibt es keine “Everything-App”, aber multifunktionale Apps wie z.B. Nostria, Primal, YakiHonne, Amethyst und Damus. Zahlreiche Apps sind für einen Single-Usecase entwickelt, dank des Oneclick-Logins ist auch ihre Nutzung bequem. Nostr-Apps sind daher den aktuellen Silo-Apps in den meisten Aspekten überlegen und werden diese deshalb kontinuierlich ersetzen.
