The Whole Grain - No. 10

A Brief Review of the Past Year and a Look Towards the Next.
The Whole Grain - No. 10

#TheWholeGrain - New Year, New Dough

What does a New Year mean? Well, it all depends on who gets asked the question. For some, it is a marker to help keep track of time. While for others it can be a symbol that as a new year starts a new version of one’s self can begin to be made.

Changes It’s been quite awhile since the last article of the The Whole Grain was released. There were two main reasons for this. One had to do with an unexpected strike of lightning that ended up damaging some of our hardware in the late spring of 2025. This forced us to have to change some of the scheduling for content releases as well as made us reassess how we would move forward in that manner. The big question for us: How much content are we currently capable of producing and releasing on time?

This leads into the second reason for why the monthly releases of The Whole Grain were discontinued. A monthly review of the Bread and Toast content releases were something that we cherished. However, it devoured our time in such a way that we could not continue to afford in order to continuously produce the content we most value at this time. The Whole Grain articles will continue, but the consistency of a month-by-month basis will not.

Quite a bit of other content releases also slowed down in 2025 for similar and/or the same reasons. Other content such as Toast’s Comic Collection, Bitcoin Art, and Concept Art releases also slowed down. Releasing a new piece of content for each of these collections every month was becoming too much for us to bake up in time, but we still want to keep them going! Moving forward, we plan to release content for these collections on a quarterly basis so that every three months a new creation will be added to a collection. This allows us to release a special piece of content once a month that may belong to one of those three collections and allow them to continue to grow.

Alright! Now that we’ve addressed some of the issues with our baking process, we would like to look back at some of the positives of 2025. It’s no fun being Negative Nancys. No offense, Nancy!

The Good Stuff! Even with some of the problems we faced in 2025, we never missed posting a Single. At a bare minimum, we can consider every Sunday throughout this past year a success! While doing so we accomplished what we personally consider a milestone for Bread and Toast. On July 6th, the one-hundredth Sunday Single was posted! When we started, it seemed like a goal so large and so far away. It was definitely a feel-good moment for the entire gang to reach triple digits. Shortly after that we hit the second-year anniversary of Sunday Singles and began the third!

We also began the Bread and Toast Adventure Story: Questline this year. An adventure that turned our fun little gang into fantasy heroes of the wonderous Grain Valley! With all of the artwork being painted by Purple Painter we were pretty confident that it would be something worth while. Although, if we’re being honest, we weren’t the biggest fans of those giant spiders! Talk about a close call! Did Purple Painter really have to make them that scary?! Anyway, we still have a bit of adventuring to do, so look out for what dangers lie ahead as we continue our journey into 2026.

Quite possibly one of our favorite things that we did this past year was talk Yarnlady into baking with yarn! She helped us create what we consider our first toy. We called it the Yarn Buddy! We found it to be a successful first attempt at creating a fun toy that anyone could love.

Not only that, but she created the Bread yarn keychain! And, as a surprise to no one, that keychain was our most popular product for sale at the second annual Nostr Valley event that took place back in October in State College, Pennsylvania. We were happy with how the event went this year as we showed up with a more professional display than we did at the first. It was another great opportunity to spread the word about what we are sharing using NOSTR and at BreadandToast.com!

Here’s to 2026! Everyone stumbles at times. Sometimes you even fall face-first on the hard ground—but that isn’t what’s important. What is important is whether or not you get back up afterwards. We stumbled and fell this past year, but we got back up! We’re gonna keep going! And with a new year, we got some fresh new dough ready to put in the oven. It’s gonna be so much fun seeing what we can bake up and share with all of you who continue to follow and support us! Thank you so much to those that follow us using NOSTR, check out the Bread and Toast website, and buy the merchandise we recently started making available!

Happy New Year! Bread, Toast, and End-Piece
