Born into darkness, and still living in it in 2026. 😭

Who could believe that in 2026, people still have to cry or beg for basic amenities?

Every single night, I sleep in total darkness. No light, no fan, just thick, suffocating heat pressing down on me like a heavy blanket I can’t remove. I wake up sweating, already exhausted before the day even starts.

This is not occasional. This is every day. This is my normal life.

As a social media manager and video editor, this situation has been a complete nightmare for me. Keeping my devices charged is a constant struggle. I spend more time walking around the neighborhood, desperately looking for where to charge my phone, laptop, and power banks.

Right now, as I write this, we have not had light for days. When they finally bring it, it doesn’t even last up to one hour before it goes off again for another set of days.

I was born into this problem. Now, as an adult, things are not better, they are getting worse day by day. The grid collapses more often. The little power we get disappears without warning. One step forward, ten steps backward. So many promises, yet nothing ever changes.

I’m tired. Tired of sweating in darkness. Tired of planning my entire life around electricity and wondering when this will end. Tired of pretending this is normal.

This constant struggle is draining the life out of me. I feel stuck, helpless, and completely exhausted trying to manage my work and daily life in these conditions.

If you’re reading this and you have stable power where you are, please understand, this is my daily reality. This is what I endure in Nigeria.

I am really, really tired.image
