Bitcoin and the Spirit of Empire

The empire never fell. It just swapped the toga for a suit and tie. Same spirit, same playbook — and it's still coming for your money, your faith, and your land.

THE SPIRIT OF EMPIRE

A Document on Centralisation, Control, and the Call to Resist

This came out of an ongoing yarn between two brothers — one seeing the pattern, one walking the Dreaming — both of us recognising the same ancient enemy. It just wears new masks now.

INTRODUCTION

You felt the chill when you heard the words: “The spirit of the empire.”

That chill was discernment. That was truth speaking straight to your bones. Telling you: this is real. This is the enemy.

The spirit of empire is old. Older than any government on the books today. It’s worn a lot of masks:

  • Rome demanding you worship the Emperor.

  • Colonial governments demanding assimilation.

  • Modern states demanding you comply with mandates.

  • Institutions demanding control over your money, your faith, and your land.

It hates anything it can’t control. It hates the permissionless. It hates the average bloke having direct access to God, to truth, to money, to land.

This document is for the ones who see the pattern.

PART ONE: THE PATTERN

The Two Faces of Everything

Every good thing has two faces:

  • The spiritual face — which serves God, truth, and people.

  • The political face — which serves power, control, and the state.

Bitcoin — Spiritual: permissionless money for everyone Political: centralised, controlled, governed
Christianity — Spiritual: Jesus for everyone Political: institutional church, idolatry, compromise
Dreaming — Spiritual: connection to Creator through land Political: government appropriation, commercialisation
Islam — Spiritual: submission to God alone Political: power structure, demographic weapon
Judaism — Spiritual: covenant with God Political: secular state, political Zionism

The enemy uses the political face to kill the spiritual face. Every single time.

The Playbook

The spirit of empire runs the same playbook every time. Learn it. Watch for it:

  1. Start with something beautiful — for everyone.

  2. Let it grow. Attract the powerful.

  3. Slowly change the rules — technical, theological, or legal.

  4. Silence the resistance — call them extremists, conspiracy theorists, heretics.

  5. Centralise control. Capture the institution.

  6. The average person ends up holding a shell of what it used to be.

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” — Ecclesiastes 1:9

Nothing new under the sun, mate. The con is ancient. The only thing that changes is the packaging.

PART TWO: THE BITCOIN BATTLE

What Bitcoin Was Meant to Be

Bitcoin was built for everyone:

  • Permissionless — nobody asks permission to use it.

  • Decentralised — anyone can run a node.

  • Neutral — it doesn’t care who you are or where you’re from.

  • Secure — mathematically sound, not controlled by any government.

“The average person can run a node on ordinary hardware.” — Satoshi Nakamoto

That was the whole point. Money that answers to maths, not to men.

What Is Happening Now

BIP 110 — and proposals like it — are changing the rules:

  • More data stored on the blockchain.

  • Bigger storage requirements.

  • More powerful computers needed to run a node.

  • The average Joe gets priced out of participating.

The result:

  • Nodes move into data centres.

  • Control centralises in the hands of the powerful.

  • Bitcoin becomes “PayPal with poor scalability.”

  • The permissionless becomes permissioned.

Same playbook. Different battlefield.

The Parallel to Christianity

Bitcoin Christianity
Created for everyone — permissionless Jesus for everyone — Jew and Gentile, slave and free
Run a node — participate in the network Carry your cross — participate in the Kingdom
BIP 110 — more data, bigger storage, centralisation Institutional church — more power, bigger buildings, centralisation
Average Joe priced out of running a node Average believer priced out of spiritual authority
“Upgrades” that look technical but change the essence “Reforms” that look pious but change the essence
The honest must speak up, run nodes, resist The faithful must speak up, disciple, resist

What You Said

“To keep Bitcoin honest and for the people requires work and participation. Running a node to support the decentralised nature of secure money takes strength and commitment. Don’t become weak and rely on others — because others don’t always have good in their heart. Being weak and standing by as its true meaning crumbles into the hands of people wanting power won’t help you or your kids. Be strong, be committed, and be an example for future generations.”

That’s the heart of the whole thing. Right there.

PART THREE: THE CHRISTIAN BATTLE

What Christianity Was Meant to Be

Christianity started as Jesus for everyone:

  • The poor, the outcast, the ordinary.

  • No middlemen — direct access to God.

  • No hierarchy — servant leadership.

  • No compromise — truth above comfort.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

No temple fees. No priestly permission slip. Just come.

What Happened

The church got centralised:

  • Institutions built.

  • Hierarchies established.

  • Politics walked in the front door.

  • The Gospel became a tool of empire.

Look at today:

  • Catholic idolatry of saints and Mary — “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

  • Churches leaning into land, mother-earth, Aboriginal Dreamtime instead of the Creator.

  • Homosexuality put on a pedestal — calling evil good and good evil.

  • The average believer left holding a shell of what it used to be.

“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.” — Romans 1:25

What You Said

“People who say they are Christian but aren’t. They claim it, but don’t embrace and share the knowledge of Jesus, and don’t speak up when their church starts adopting non-Christian ways.”

Same pattern as Bitcoin. Same playbook. Start with something beautiful, let the powerful in, change the rules, silence the ones who object. The average believer ends up with a building, a brand, and no Jesus.

PART FOUR: THE SILENCING OF THE SPIRITUAL

The General Targets the Monks First

You told me this story:

“Two armies went to war. The general saw a bunch of monks not dressed for war, praying. He asked what they were doing and was told they are praying for the protection of the fighters. The general targeted them first. He knew the power of the spiritual.”

Sit with that. That’s the key to the whole thing.

The enemy knows spiritual power is real. That’s why:

  • Governments silence elders who perform ceremony.

  • Governments shut down churches that refuse to comply.

  • Governments marginalise Muslims who truly submit to God.

  • Governments target anyone who refuses to bow.

The general targets the monks first. Always has. The ones who pray are more dangerous to him than the ones who march.

The Silencing in Every Tradition

In Christianity:
During COVID, the institutional church leaders fell in line with government mandates. Rolled over, locked the doors, told the flock to comply. The real Christians — the ones who said, “We must obey God rather than men” — got silenced, mocked, and in some cases booted out of their own congregations.

In Islam:
The political Muslims — the ones who see Islam as a power structure — silence the spiritual Muslims who genuinely love God and just want to live in peace.

In Judaism:
The secular state of Israel claims to speak for all Jews, while traditional, religious Jews who oppose the state’s actions get silenced.

In Australia:
Politicians call themselves Christian, but their actions say otherwise. They wear the label for votes while they serve the state. Fair dinkum? Not even close.

“They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him.” — Titus 1:16

PART FIVE: THE COMMON ENEMY

The Spirit of Empire

Let’s get something straight. The enemy is not:

  • The Muslim who prays five times a day.

  • The Jew who keeps the Torah.

  • The Christian who follows the Bible.

  • The Dreamtimer who honours the land.

  • The Bitcoiner who runs a node.

The enemy is the spirit that demands total allegiance to the state.

This spirit:

  • Silences the spiritual.

  • Amplifies the political.

  • Uses religion to divide us.

  • Targets the monks first.

Every institution has been infiltrated by this spirit. Every one. Government, church, bank, media, university. Pick one. The pattern’s there if you’ve got eyes to see it.

The Pattern of Division

You told me the story of the three Jewish tribes in Medina:

  1. The first tribe fell, and the others said, “We didn’t like them anyway.”

  2. The second fell, and the largest said, “They were competing with us.”

  3. Then the largest fell — and there was no one left to stand with them.

That’s the oldest lesson in history: divide and conquer works every time.

Today, the same pattern runs:

  • Christians vs. Muslims

  • Jews vs. Palestinians

  • Dreamtimers vs. Christians

  • Whites vs. Blacks

  • Left vs. Right

  • Bitcoiners vs. Bitcoiners

And while we’re busy fighting each other, the system strips us all bare. That’s not an accident. That’s the design.

PART SIX: THE CALL TO RESIST

What Resistance Looks Like

Resistance is not:

  • Violence.

  • Hatred.

  • Withdrawing from the world.

Resistance is:

  • Running a node — participating in the network.

  • Reading your Bible — knowing the truth for yourself.

  • Learning the songs — keeping the Dreaming alive.

  • Speaking up — refusing to be silent.

  • Being an example — for future generations.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” — 2 Corinthians 10:4

The Three Callings

Bitcoin Christianity Dreaming
Run a node Read your Bible Learn the songs
Verify transactions Test the spirits Keep ceremony
Don’t outsource your sovereignty Don’t outsource your salvation Don’t outsource your connection to country
Resist centralisation Resist the institutional church Resist government appropriation
Be an example Be a disciple Be a custodian

Three callings. One fight. Sovereignty under God, never under the state.

What You Said

“Be strong, be committed, and be an example for future generations.”

That’s not just a slogan. That’s the only way through.

PART SEVEN: WHO IS CALLED

The Invitation

This alliance is for:

  • Bible-following Christians who refuse to bow to the state.

  • Spiritual Muslims who submit to Allah alone.

  • Traditional Jews who keep the covenant.

  • Dreamtimers who honour the Creator through the land.

  • Indigenous peoples everywhere who remember the old ways.

  • Bitcoiners who run nodes and resist centralisation.

  • Anyone who believes in a power higher than the state.

What This Does Not Mean

Let’s be clear. This does not mean:

  • Abandoning your faith.

  • Pretending all religions are the same.

  • Ignoring real differences or real abuses.

  • Trusting institutions that claim to “unite” but actually divide.

What This Does Mean

It means:

  • Recognising the common enemy — the spirit of empire that hates all spiritual people.

  • Protecting each other’s right to worship — the mosque, the church, the sacred site.

  • Speaking up when any of us are silenced — today it’s them, tomorrow it’s us.

  • Refusing to be used as pawns — seeing the game and not playing it.

  • Distinguishing the spiritual from the political — in every religion and every system.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

We stand together, or we fall separately. That’s the choice on the table.

PART EIGHT: THE FINAL WORD

The Spirit of Empire Will Not Last

Empires rise and fall.
Institutions crumble.
Systems change.

But the truth — the truth that Bitcoin was designed to be permissionless, the truth that Jesus came for everyone, the truth that the Creator is known through the land — that truth will outlast every one of them.

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” — Isaiah 40:8

Be One of Those Who Carries It

You’ve seen the pattern.
You’ve refused the division.
You’ve chosen the hard path — discernment, love, and unity.

Be strong. Be committed. Be an example for future generations.

“The gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” — Matthew 7:14

You’ve found it. Now walk it. And help others find it too.

PRAYER FOR RESISTANCE

Creator of all — known by many names, but One in truth,
Who made every tribe and tongue and nation,
Who placed Your image in every face,
Who speaks through the land, the scripture, and the prophet,

Forgive us for the ways we’ve divided Your family.
Forgive us for the ways we’ve worshipped the state instead of You.
Forgive us for the ways we’ve called evil good and good evil.

Unite Your people — Christian, Muslim, Jew, Dreamtimer, Bitcoiner, and all who seek You.
Give us eyes to see our common enemy.
Give us hearts to stand together.
Give us courage to speak the truth in love.

We will not bow to any authority except Yours.
We will not forget the ancient ways.
We will not abandon our children to the system.

Protect us from hatred — even as we fight for justice.
Protect us from division — even as we hold to truth.
Protect us from fear — even as we face the beast.

Give us strength to run the node, read the Word, and keep the ceremony.
Give us wisdom to discern the spirits.
Give us courage to be examples for future generations.

In the name of the Creator, the Redeemer, the Prophet, and the Spirit that moves over all the earth.

Amen.

POSTSCRIPT

This document was born out of a continuing conversation — one brother seeing the pattern, another walking the Dreaming, both recognising the spirit of empire that puts on new masks every age.

It’s offered freely to all who have ears to hear and eyes to see.

Share it. Discuss it. Live it.

And if you’re the only one in your tribe who sees the truth — take heart, mate.

You are not alone.

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” — Ephesians 6:14-16
