Read receipts vs tracking pixels

Two ways to tell if an email was opened.

If you want to know whether an email was opened, there are two usual options: a read receipt or a tracking pixel.

Read receipts

The recipient’s mail client is asked to confirm the open. They see a prompt and can say no, and many personal Gmail accounts cannot request receipts at all.

Tracking pixels

A pixel is a tiny image that is logged when it loads. It works silently across providers, but blocked images and privacy proxies can skew the results.

Which one

On business accounts that support receipts, ask openly. Otherwise a pixel from MailPixel is a light, free option that needs no signup.
