Senate Approves 'Freight MP' Establishing Minimum Price Rules
Brazil's Senate has approved a bill, known as the 'MP do Frete,' which strengthens the enforcement of minimum freight prices for road transport. The measure passed after pressure from striking truckers, though a proposed R$5,000 monthly salary was removed. The bill also controversially includes an amnesty for fines levied against truckers who participated in road blockades after the 2022 election, a provision President Lula is expected to veto.
