PIS/Pasep payout opens, but withdrawal deadlines differ
Caixa Econômica Federal has started a new payment round for unclaimed balances from the former PIS/Pasep fund, aimed at private-sector workers and public servants who contributed between 1971 and 1988 and never withdrew their shares. Both reports say heirs and legal dependants may also seek payment, subject to documentation.

The accounts broadly agree on the practical process. Claimants can check for balances through the Finance Ministry’s Repis Cidadão platform or the FGTS app, then submit a request digitally or at a Caixa branch. Payments are made by credit to an existing account; people without a Caixa account can receive a no-cost digital social-savings account, according to the reports.

Their emphasis differs in the details. The Brazil Right account focuses on the current batch for people who had requested reimbursement by August 31, and says the latest payment calendar extends into early 2027. It also says requests must be filed by December 31, 2026, within a five-year period after the accounts’ closure; after that, unclaimed funds would be incorporated into the National Treasury.

The Brazil Left account likewise says the current round covers requests made by August 31, but frames the programme as a potentially meaningful recovery for households, estimating average payments of roughly R$2,800 to R$2,900. It identifies a later deadline — September 2028 — for filing claims, while warning that balances would then be permanently transferred to the Treasury.

In both versions, the central message is the same: these are shares from an old fund, not the current annual PIS/Pasep wage allowance, and eligible people should verify their status rather than assume the money has been paid automatically.
