Businessman says wedding security blockade turned confrontational
Gabriel Kanner said he was trying to return home on April 26 when he encountered police vehicles and restricted access near Casa Fasano in São Paulo’s Cidade Jardim district, where Alexandre Barci de Moraes, the son of Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, was holding his wedding.

According to one account, Kanner left his car and began filming after recognizing vehicles marked as Judicial Police. He said a security guard struck his phone, causing it to fall, and then pushed him from behind. The report quotes the guard as saying, “Move your car from here.”

A second report describes the same episode as beginning after Kanner criticized the blocked route while recording. It says the guard slapped the phone from his hand and later pushed him as he walked back toward his vehicle and sought permission to continue. Both accounts frame the confrontation as part of an unusually broad perimeter around the event rather than an isolated traffic dispute.

The reports say military police, municipal guards, Judicial Police and traffic agents were deployed, with traffic restricted within roughly 200 meters of the venue. One account says journalists and members of the public were stopped farther from the site, while nearby pedestrian access points were also closed.

The heightened arrangements were attributed to the attendance of senior officials and concern that the wedding could draw demonstrators. Although a protest had reportedly been called, neither account recorded one taking place.

Kanner used the incident to criticize Moraes and call for his impeachment and arrest, making the footage part of a wider political dispute. The first report said the STF and Moraes’s office did not respond to requests for comment before publication, and it did not include a statement from the security guard.
