Nikolas Ferreira Seizes Brazil’s Congressional Vote Record as Pavanato Also Clears 3 Million

Nikolas Ferreira’s reelection in Minas Gerais set a new national record for a federal deputy, while Lucas Pavanato’s result in São Paulo underscored the scale of the two candidates’ support. Coverage differs mainly over whether the outcome signals a wider conservative electoral shift.

Nikolas Ferreira Seizes Brazil’s Congressional Vote Record as Pavanato Also Clears 3 Million
Nikolas Ferreira was reelected as federal deputy for Minas Gerais with 3,119,314 votes, or 27.25% of valid ballots, according to one account—making him the most-voted federal deputy in Brazilian history. It says the result more than doubled the roughly 1.49 million votes he received in his first election to the Chamber in 2022.

A separate tally, published while votes were still being counted, put Ferreira at 3,098,411 votes with more than 99% of ballots counted in Minas Gerais. It also recorded São Paulo councilman Lucas Pavanato at 3,035,501 votes, making the pair the first federal-deputy candidates to exceed 3 million votes. The slight difference in Ferreira’s total reflects the stages of the count cited by the two reports.

Both accounts note that Ferreira and Pavanato surpassed the previous benchmark set by Eduardo Bolsonaro, who won about 1.84 million votes in São Paulo in 2018. The Minas Gerais deputy’s final margin was especially striking: he received nearly six times the votes of the runner-up in his state’s federal-deputy race, the first report said.

The reports frame the significance differently. The first describes the outcome as consolidating Ferreira as “one of the main electoral leaders of the Brazilian right,” linking his social-media reach and campaigning for allies to wider conservative gains. It also notes that Pavanato credited support from Ferreira and former president Jair Bolsonaro among the factors behind his result.

The second account offers a broader snapshot of the leading candidates rather than attributing the outcome chiefly to one political current. Of the 10 best-voted deputies in its count, it reported that six were associated with right-wing parties and four with left-wing parties; the Liberal Party had four names in the top 10, while PSOL had two.
