Brazilian Man Faces Voter-Intimidation Charge After Wearing ICE Gear in Miami
Danilo Silva, 46, was arrested after he appeared near a Miami Dade College polling location wearing clothing marked “ICE,” along with a face covering, dark glasses and tactical-style boots. The site was being used by Brazilian voters in the first round of Brazil’s presidential election.

The two accounts agree on the central sequence: Silva had first voted at the site wearing a Brazil national-team shirt, then returned to his vehicle, changed clothes and walked around the campus. Police were called after reports that his conduct was intimidating, and investigators intervened after a confrontation with other people at the location.

The dispute is over purpose. Authorities allege that the ICE insignia and Silva’s behavior were intended to provoke fear among voters, particularly in a setting where immigration enforcement imagery can carry obvious weight. The police report described him as moving around the voting buildings “in an intimidating manner.”

Silva, however, denied being an ICE agent and told officers the clothing was an Amazon-bought costume. According to the reporting, he said he had put it on to “see people’s reaction,” rather than to claim federal authority.

Police also allege that Silva threatened an investigator during the arrest and later tried to offer money in exchange for being released. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and faces allegations including voter intimidation, attempted bribery, unlawful use of law-enforcement insignia and disorderly conduct.

Neither report includes a response from Silva’s legal defense. The case therefore turns on whether his claimed costume stunt can be separated from the effect police say it had on people arriving to vote.
