Temer casts support for Flávio Bolsonaro as a vote for a different direction.
Former President Michel Temer has endorsed Senator Flávio Bolsonaro in Brazil’s presidential runoff against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, arguing that voters signaled a demand for political change in the first round.

Reporting from the Brazil Right perspective emphasizes Temer’s case for renewal. In a social-media statement, Temer said voters wanted “new ideas, new attitudes, new projects and a different path,” adding: “Reconnection is Flávio.” The report also notes that Temer’s MDB party has not issued a national endorsement, making his intervention a personal political decision rather than a formal party alignment.

The Brazil Left account relays the same endorsement but foregrounds Temer’s criticism of the alternatives he says voters wish to leave behind. “Society does not want repeated formulas and coarse speeches,” Temer said, before again identifying Flávio Bolsonaro with “reconnection.” It also highlights the narrow electoral balance: Bolsonaro led the first round with 47.03% of valid votes, or 56.1 million votes, against Lula’s 45.16%, or 53.9 million.

The two accounts therefore differ more in emphasis than in their core account. One presents Temer’s backing alongside the broader political significance of an ex-president joining Bolsonaro’s coalition; the other centers the language Temer used to contrast Bolsonaro with established political approaches. Both describe a runoff scheduled for October 25.

Online reactions from Bolsonaro supporters were more unequivocal. Commentator Paulo Figueiredo urged voters to back Flávio Bolsonaro, citing a claimed election-day probability estimate of 63.2% for Bolsonaro versus 37% for Lula. Allan dos Santos, meanwhile, characterized Temer’s move as an instruction for other conservative figures to follow—a partisan interpretation rather than a statement from Temer or the MDB.
