Marinho’s sudden illness follows a campaign rally in Goiânia
Senator Rogério Marinho, a coordinator of Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign, was hospitalized at DF Star Hospital in Brasília on Tuesday after becoming ill while flying back from Goiânia. Both reports agree that the episode came after a political event attended by Bolsonaro allies, including São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas and Ronaldo Caiado, who announced support for Flávio Bolsonaro’s campaign.
The Brazil Right account foregrounded the hospital’s medical bulletin. It said Marinho had a “fever associated with malaise” and was admitted for tests and clinical treatment. Before that bulletin was released, his office said he had been taken to the hospital “as a precaution,” was doing well and was awaiting test results.
The Brazil Left account likewise reported that Marinho became ill on the Goiânia-to-Brasília journey and was taken to DF Star for a series of examinations. Its initial framing was more tentative about the cause, saying there was, at first, suspicion of a drop in blood pressure.
The two accounts therefore describe the same immediate sequence—campaign event, flight, illness and hospital admission—without identifying a confirmed diagnosis. The hospital’s statement points to symptoms requiring observation and treatment, while the earlier political-office account stresses precaution and the possibility of a temporary episode.
Marinho, 62, represents Rio Grande do Norte in the Senate and is serving his first term, which began in 2023. The reporting also notes that he met Supreme Federal Court President Edson Fachin before traveling to Goiânia, where he raised concerns about what he described as judicial interference in other institutions.
