Vorcaro’s defense presses Fachin to unblock release request
Daniel Vorcaro’s lawyers have asked Supreme Federal Court President Edson Fachin to allow Justice André Mendonça to rule on the businessman’s request to revoke his preventive detention. The central point shared across the coverage is not a disagreement over the request itself, but the defense’s claim that it has been left without a judicial decision.
The Brazil Right report presents the matter as an urgent procedural deadlock. It says the defense has been waiting since September 18 and argues that Vorcaro has spent more than eight months in custody without being indicted or facing criminal charges. The lawyers also contend that other people in comparable circumstances have been released. Calling the case “in limbo,” they asked Fachin to return the related filings to Mendonça, whom they describe as the assigned and natural judge for urgent matters.
According to that account, Mendonça’s office had already requested the files back from the court presidency so it could examine the emergency applications. The defense says it was told that the files remained with the presidency under Fachin’s order, prompting its request for intervention. The report attributes the allegations to the lawyers and notes that they qualified the status of the unanswered request with uncertainty.
The Brazil Left item frames the development more narrowly but reaches the same basic point: Vorcaro’s defense has asked Fachin for Mendonça to consider the release request. Neither account presents a ruling by Fachin or Mendonça. The immediate issue, therefore, is whether the court will clarify who is to decide the request rather than the merits of Vorcaro’s detention itself.
