Luchsinger Floats Plea Deal as Lula’s Office Calls Claims Political
Roberta Luchsinger, a businesswoman and lobbyist under federal investigation, has said she wants to pursue a plea-bargain agreement and would not exclude President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva or his son, Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, from any account she provides.
Luchsinger says she holds information beyond material already seized by the Federal Police, including what she describes as frequent meetings between Lulinha and senior government figures. “The president’s son sat weekly with ministers,” she said, without specifying the ministers, the circumstances of the meetings or the subjects discussed. She also says she has been pressured into silence, lost business contracts and received threats; the allegations have not been independently substantiated in the material provided.
Her account is tied to inquiries into suspected influence peddling and efforts to broker business with federal bodies, including alleged dealings involving medical cannabis products and the state data company Dataprev. Luchsinger denies wrongdoing and says she would answer through due process for any offense established against her. No formal cooperation agreement had been announced at the time of the reports.
The presidency, however, rejects both the substance and the timing of her claims. In a statement carried by the reports, the Presidential Communications Secretariat said Lula had never dealt with Luchsinger, had not received requests from her and knew nothing of the alleged arrangements. It added that there was no federal government contract with her and said accusations released on the eve of a runoff resembled unproven claims used to influence public opinion.
The dispute has also intensified online. Commentator Rodrigo Constantino amplified Luchsinger’s reported position in a post quoting her as saying she wanted a plea deal because she did not have “a president father.” That commentary reflects the political traction of the case, but does not establish the underlying allegations.
Lulinha’s defense was contacted in one report and had not responded by publication. A representative for Senator Camilo Santana, whom Luchsinger mentioned in connection with Lulinha, denied that Santana discussed government business or commercial matters with him.
