Recovered phone records sharpen dispute over Moraes’s alleged contact with Vorcaro
A review of data recovered from Daniel Vorcaro’s seized phone identified 316 interactions attributed to Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes between September 17 and November 17, 2025. The tally includes messages, calls, images and app notifications—not 316 text messages—and reporting says some WhatsApp content was recovered from residual or secondary databases after temporary messages disappeared.
Accounts based on the records describe an informal relationship and a possible meeting in Brasília shortly before Vorcaro’s November 2025 arrest. One message attributed to Moraes reads, “Thank you, friend. You can’t even tell it’s not me lol,” while another exchange concerns family life. The material also includes requests by Vorcaro for help approaching Federal Police chief Andrei Rodrigues and Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet amid concerns over Banco Master.
Moraes rejects the central premise: that the files prove he communicated with Vorcaro. In a filing to the court’s president, he said, “There is NO DIALOGUE,” arguing that there was not “a single message” authored by him and that most of the 52 previously cited notes were not found in actual WhatsApp conversations. He has also said he never ruled on cases involving Vorcaro or Banco Master, and argued that Vorcaro’s arrest itself undermines claims of protection or advance warning.
The competing accounts also differ over procedure. Moraes has characterized the inquiry as politically motivated and challenged its legal basis, while Vorcaro’s defense has raised chain-of-custody questions and sought access to original forensic data to test whether the extracted records were altered or reliably attributed.
Commentary on the right has treated the reports as self-evidently troubling. Rodrigo Constantino’s response—“All normal. Move along!”—used sarcasm to question the significance of the alleged contacts rather than address the evidentiary dispute.
