Bell 0.3.0

Reading
Posts now have a Mark read control. Read posts stay in place with dimmed text and avatar. A reply or reaction marks its source post read after a relay accepts it, and a canceled, failed or uncertain send does not mark the post read. A brief checkmark now confirms success in place of raw relay acknowledgment counts.
Rows put the sender avatar and name on one line next to the recipient avatars. The account and direct-reply filters have distinct icons, reaction emoji are outlined, the Send glyph is clearer and the timestamp dot is gone.
Sender continuity
The sender chosen on a row carries into Reply from the timeline or conversation tree, along with any text you have typed. You can still pick another sender in the composer. Submitting locks the sender and text before Amber asks for approval. Routing consults the sender’s outbox list and the recipients’ inbox lists.
References and deletions
Profile, event and address references show cached names and avatars, with a short preview of referenced posts and quotes when Bell can fetch them. Plain text and URLs stay readable. Long press and drag to select text for copying, and Copy note ID copies the canonical note1 ID.
Bell honors signed NIP-09 deletion requests from a post’s own author. The post leaves the timeline and its body is redacted on this device, while conversation trees keep its position and the replies around it, marked with a Deleted post placeholder. Bell stores a tombstone for the author-signed request, so the body stays redacted when a relay resends the post later. Other copies can remain on relays.
Emoji and dictation
The emoji picker offers the Unicode catalog by category, with quick favorites per account. Custom image reactions work as before.
The microphone button starts recognition on the device through an installed, configured offline speech engine, and Bell requests microphone permission when you tap it. Review the words, then paste them into your draft or send through the same sender and Amber flow. Canceling or an error keeps your earlier draft. Bell has no network speech fallback and keeps no transcript log.
Alerts
Enabling reply alerts also starts background listening. Settings checks Android notification permission, app-level alert blocks and the selected reply-alert channel, with links to Bell’s own Android settings. You can hide the ongoing connection badge channel separately. Android and network limits can still delay alerts.
