When to Renew
Renew if your passport has less than one year of validity. Many countries require 6 months of passport validity beyond travel dates. Renew if you have no blank pages left, if there is significant damage, or after a change in name, address, or appearance.
Online Application Process
Visit the official Passport Seva website. Register using your email and mobile number. Select Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue. Fill out the online application form. Choose your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). Pay the applicable fees - 1,500 INR for 36-page and 2,000 INR for 60-page passport. Book your appointment.
Tatkal Passport Renewal
The Tatkal scheme offers expedited processing. Tatkal fees are approximately 2,000 INR extra for 36-page and 2,500 INR extra for 60-page passports. Required documents include Aadhaar card, voter ID, or government-issued identity proof. Processing typically takes 1 to 3 working days.
Documents Required
Existing passport (original and self-attested copy). Aadhaar card or voter ID. Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or rent agreement if address changed). Passport-sized photographs as per specifications. Marriage certificate or name change document if applicable. Annexure forms for certain categories.

Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Carry printed copies of your application form, fee receipt, appointment confirmation, and original documents.
