Questions I Ask Before Quoting a Data Studio Project
- Who reads it and how often
- Where the data lives
- What already exists
- Who owns it afterwards
- What comes back
A fixed price for a Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) report only works if the scope is clear first. I’m Harsh Khubchandani, an independent Data Studio consultant in New Delhi, and these are the questions I ask on the first call before I write a quote.
Who reads it and how often
A weekly report for a leadership team is built differently from a daily view for an operations lead. The reader decides the number of pages, the level of detail and whether it needs to work on a phone.
Where the data lives
Native connectors like Google Analytics, Google Ads, Search Console and Google Sheets are quick. Data from other tools may need a partner connector, an export to Sheets, or BigQuery, and that changes the effort.
What already exists
An existing report that needs fixing is a different job from a blank page. I ask for view access to anything already built.
Who owns it afterwards
If someone in-house will maintain it, I plan time for a handover and short training.
What comes back
After the call I send a written scope with a fixed price, so there are no surprises. Details at datastudioconsultant.com.
