The Pages I Build in a Google Ads Report in Data Studio
- Page 1: Overview
- Page 2: Campaigns
- Page 3: Search terms and keywords
- Page 4: Devices, locations and time
- Page 5: Notes and definitions
- Details that make it trustworthy
The Google Ads interface has every number, but most business owners and managers don’t want to dig through it. A well-planned Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) report gives them the answers in a few pages. I’m Harsh Khubchandani, an independent Data Studio consultant in New Delhi, and this is the structure I start from before adjusting it to each client.
Page 1: Overview
Scorecards for spend, clicks, conversions, cost per conversion and conversion value or return on ad spend, each compared with the previous period. Below them, one trend chart of spend and conversions over time. This is the page most people read.
Page 2: Campaigns
A table of campaigns with spend, conversions, cost per conversion and share of total spend, sorted by spend. Conditional formatting highlights campaigns above the target cost per conversion. A campaign type filter helps separate Search, Performance Max and others.
Page 3: Search terms and keywords
For search campaigns, the terms people actually typed, with spend and conversions. This page is where wasted spend usually shows up, so I keep it simple and sortable.
Page 4: Devices, locations and time
Breakdowns by device, by region or city, and by day of week and hour. These help decide bid adjustments and budget splits.
Page 5: Notes and definitions
What each metric means, which conversion actions are counted, the data source and refresh timing. It saves many repeated questions.
Details that make it trustworthy
- I confirm which conversion actions are included, because totals often differ from GA4 for good reasons.
- I check currency and time zone settings match the account.
- If there are several accounts, I decide early whether to use one report with an account filter or separate reports.
- Where GA4 data is added, I explain clearly where numbers will and won’t match.
If you want a Google Ads report your team will actually read, I offer a free 30-minute review and a fixed written price. Details at datastudioconsultant.com.
