THE EPILOGUE TO THE GREAT “UNDP” AFFAIR IS SOON! Paper from New York, then arrest and trial! Serbia has urgently requested a formal response from the UN administration regarding the “UNDP” affair, specifically concerning the immunity status of three employees facing criminal charges. The prosecution is awaiting confirmation that these employees lack immunity to proceed with the investigation into fraud during the reconstruction of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. The project has stalled due to alleged inaction by UNDP and financial disputes with the architectural studio responsible for the building permit.
- Serbia has sent an urgent request to the UN administration in New York for a formal response concerning the “UNDP” affair.
- The request is for confirmation that three UNDP employees, against whom criminal charges have been filed, do not have immunity.
- Once confirmation is received, the prosecution and Directorate of Criminal Police will proceed with the investigation into fraud related to the Faculty of Fine Arts reconstruction.
- The individuals charged are Tatjana Strahinjić Nikolić, Stefan Zdujić, and Zorica Savičić.
- Jakup Beriš, head of the UNDP office in Belgrade, has diplomatic immunity and cannot be prosecuted in Serbia.
- The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade made an official request through the Ministry of Justice and the General Consulate of Serbia in New York.
- Over 180 days have passed since the initial request to the UN.
- The Faculty of Fine Arts reconstruction project has been stalled, awaiting resolution with the architectural studio “Bureau Cube Partners”.
