The Catch
Thoughts fade as dawns go by Sleep brings needed rest and restlessness I dream of younger days An expanding vision of the future reveals Most days are filled
Filled with fishing Beaches, hot sun coats my melanin with warmth I doze, as the lines tug awakens My soul to possibilities of nothingness Calendars filled with uneventful hours The weight bends my rod toward the sea floor It’s the big one Hands hold steady, drag set to let her run But not too far, not out my reach Keep the tip high Reel fast, stay focused
On Ripples of Love and Happiness Move across the face of of the ocean A soundscape of gulls, serenades I can’t let this one get away
Fight carries on till Landing the monster, eventually
A hulking shadow, comes into view. Down to the waters edge To find I’ve landed, Peace
