Blogstr is a Nostr-native publishing and social reading app. It gives you a place to publish an article, share a short note, follow writers, join a conversation, and support work you enjoy with Bitcoin.
You can start by reading without an account. When you want to participate, create a Nostr account in Blogstr or connect an identity you already use. Whether you are opening a Nostr app for the first time or already have a favorite signer and relay setup, Blogstr brings reading and writing into one place.
Visit Blogstr in English.
A home for articles and the conversations around them
Some ideas need more room than a short post. Blogstr lets you write long-form articles in Markdown, add images, preview your work, and update an article after publishing it.
Articles are published as Nostr long-form events using NIP-23, the standard for long-form content. Compatible Nostr clients can read those public articles too, subject to their relay coverage and support for the format.
Alongside articles, you can publish notes: short posts for an observation, a question, a link, or an update. Readers can reply, quote, repost, like, and Zap. An article can become the beginning of a conversation, and a conversation can give you the idea for your next article.
Your profile brings your articles, notes, and public information together so readers can find your work and follow you.
Find something worth reading
The English interface offers feeds for both articles and notes:
- Latest shows the global chronological feed.
- Following shows content from accounts you follow, across languages.
- Discover surfaces content using public engagement signals.
- Japanese opens the Japanese chronological feed.
You can also search for content and profiles. The English interface does not automatically translate what people write: articles, notes, and profile text remain in their original language.
Your Nostr identity comes with you
Nostr is an open protocol in which apps exchange signed events through servers called relays. Your identity is based on cryptographic keys, and a signer authorizes actions such as publishing a post.
If you already use Nostr, you can connect with a supported external signer or NIP-07 browser extension. Blogstr uses your existing identity and follow list. You can manage your relays in Settings.
If you are new, Blogstr can create an account for you. Keep a secure backup of your secret key, usually represented as an nsec. It controls your identity and lets you recover access; it should never be shared publicly. Your npub, by contrast, is a public identifier you can share.
Public articles, notes, profiles, and follows are signed Nostr events stored on relays. That gives your identity and public writing a path beyond a single app. Availability still depends on relays retaining and serving those events, and different clients support different features.
Support writers with Zaps
A Zap is a Bitcoin payment over the Lightning Network with a Nostr payment receipt. It lets you send value in response to an article or note you appreciate. Amounts are expressed in sats, short for satoshis, the smallest unit of Bitcoin.
To receive Zaps, add a compatible Lightning address to your profile. To pay from a connected wallet, Blogstr supports Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC). You can also use the Lightning invoice with a compatible wallet.
Payments go to the recipient’s configured payment destination. Blogstr does not hold your funds; your wallet provider’s custody arrangements depend on the wallet you choose.
Publish paid articles
Writers can also publish paid articles, with a public preview and an encrypted paid section. Readers pay through Lightning to unlock the full text.
For current Agent-managed articles, Blogstr verifies the purchase’s Zap receipt and uses its Article Agent to deliver an encrypted Access Grant to the buyer’s Nostr identity. The Access Grant carries the information needed to decrypt the article. This allows a buyer to retrieve access on another device using the same identity, provided the required events remain available on relays.
The Article Agent is a service dependency for preparing purchases and delivering new Access Grants. Paid-article access uses Blogstr-specific conventions, so you should not assume every Nostr client can unlock the same content.
Keep the conversation going
Blogstr includes encrypted direct messages using NIP-17, so you can contact another user privately through compatible Nostr messaging.
You can also enable a Question Box on your profile. Readers can ask questions, including anonymously. Questions are public. You can publish an answer or prepare an answer that becomes public when someone pays its release price through Lightning. A released answer is public for everyone to read.
Start with a read, a note, or an article
Open blogstr.net/en/ and explore Articles or Notes. Follow a writer whose work interests you, join a conversation, or publish something of your own. Set up a Lightning address when you want to receive Zaps, and connect a wallet when you want to send them.
Blogstr brings the space to write at length, the conversation around your work, and direct Bitcoin support together on Nostr. I look forward to seeing what you share.
Try the paid article experience
The following is a short bonus section that lets you try out the paid article experience.
In Blogstr’s paid articles, the content beyond the paywall is unlocked with a decryption key.
I’d appreciate it if you purchased this article to give it a try and support Blogstr. For this test, I’ve included just a short passage so you can experience the process from making a payment to entering your decryption key.
