[C] Control review

My thoughts on this anime can be summarized with this:

The anime has a really cool concept. It essentially tells the story of fiat economics and everything wrong with economic policy today and in 2008, surprisingly well, just with one of the worst anime ever made. Essentially it tells a story of financial markets and macro economics, but metaphorically. “Entrepreneurs” go to the “financial district” to make “deals” leveraging their “assets”, where they can make money or go bankrupt, except all of this is in the form of a bog standard super anime pokemon battle.

The plot is shit, the characters are shit, the visuals are shit, theres parts of the show where American elites are speaking English but it’s with a shitty Japanese accent because they couldn’t find an American VA for it. It feels like the world’s most underfunded manga adaptation, except there is no manga and this is the whole source material. There are episode cuts where it feels like entire chapters are missing.

And yet…

It shows a surprisingly deep understanding of economics. The metaphors are much deeper than they let on. The author really represented the asset bubbles, over collateralization, circle jerk insurance, inflation, QE and the dollar milkshake all with physical forms and you see theit consequences on the world physically in the show. I think most bitcoiners will agree with the message of the show in general.

Overall, 5/10, and thats being very generous just due to the economics lesson it teaches. Its really just kinds shit overall and you will not care about most of it.
