Introducing Offline Guided Meditation
Offline Guided Meditation is an Android app for learning and practicing meditation with spoken English guidance. It is developed for GrapheneOS, with support for Android 15 or newer, and it works offline and account-free.
Version 0.14.0 brings a list-first Explore, more choices on Today, consistent practice summaries, and a corrected ending for standalone guided sessions with spoken endings.
There are two ways to choose what to practice. Today suggests a practice and shows up to three other choices on the same screen, so you can compare options at a glance. Opening a choice shows its details, and nothing plays until you start it. Explore opens with techniques in a list, and you can switch to a connected star map you can pan and zoom if you like to browse that way. The techniques cover a broad variety of approaches, and every practice has a short summary of what it is for, which makes it easier to pick one that suits the moment.
Each technique leads to individual sessions, and selected techniques also have courses. A course presents its lessons in order and suggests the next one based on what you have completed. Every lesson is open from the start, so you can begin at the first or go straight to the one you want.
Inside a session, short guidance alternates with quiet practice. You can pause and resume whenever you like, or end the session at any point. In supported guided playback, you can skip back or forward 15 seconds. Some sessions let you adjust the length or the amount of guidance, and where supported you can choose session sounds and add an available reflection. A standalone guided session with a spoken ending ends when its final spoken section finishes, with no unused time left over at the end.
Guidance plays from included narration and on-device speech. When you want to sit in silence, the silent timer offers optional bells or gongs.
My text is a place to write or import your own guidance or a favorite passage. Save it, then tap Listen, and the app reads it aloud with on-device speech.
Your practice history and saved texts are stored encrypted on the device. The app is tracking-free and requests no internet permission.
