TCOAAR

Message from the Lead Writer

Greetings my fellow TCOAARites! It is I, not your usual dev log writer!

AKA, the new Lead Writer on TCOAAR, Iceblaster! On roughly June 6th the position of Lead Writer was transferred from our previous lead Literally Me to me. Since this is the first dev log since the handoff, I figured I should do a quick introduction! I’ve been with the project since it began, though regrettably I wasn’t really that active in Chapter 1’s development, mainly acting as a consultant type sanity checking ideas and contributing to overall plot outlining. Chapter 2 is really where I started contributing properly, while I’d be a bit of a douche to claim specific things are Me considering it’s a team effort, those who are familiar with my own writing style will surely pick up on my contributions.

Regarding my work outside of TCOAAR, I’ve generally been writing for many years at this point, and in specifically been writing for the TCOAAL fandom for about two years at this point. Whilst it is my first time in a leadership position for a creative project, I believe that I have what it takes to make sure to make sure chapter 3 is as good as chapter 2 was, if not better.

Before I get into the fun stuff, an update on the progress for Chapter 3!

Chapter 3 Progress Update

Work has finally started on a proper game script. We’ve gotten drafts of act 1 of chapter 3 mostly finished, and while work on some portions has stalled due to conflicts in the direction of things, I believe we should have act 1 finished within two weeks. Act 2 is a bit further out and act 3 is but a twinkle in our eyes, but! If momentum keeps up, we should have a first draft of the game script by the end of October. When does this mean Chapter 3 drops? I have no idea. Frankly, if things go well we should be working on getting working versions of each act as we go with only some changes to match up if we do any editing -which is almost certain to happen. No comments, essentially.

Fun Stuff

Now, the fun stuff! First up, we’ve got a CG that will actually be put into Chapter 2 when chapter 3 drops. Art is a WIP and the content is subject to change! This will end up being shown during the bar flashback in chapter 2, as you may see.

Next up, this image! A newspaper, certainly the funnies from a certain perspective. After all, what’s more funny than the crushing weight of reality and the fragility of our mortal bodies.

More on Progress

Finally, progress as I said earlier has been advancing a bit slow, so we don’t have any game scenes, but! With permission from the team I have come to bring you some snippets of the script that do not spoil any of our plot but are nonetheless interesting or otherwise amusing! Understandably these may not be substantial as one may want with a month and some delay on a dev log, but to show anything more would properly spoil the plot in a way that would potentially harm enjoyment!

With these, I sign off and bid ye farewell fair watchers of the coffin. When we return hence, thou shalt be surely amused by our offerings, lest you fuck i dunno, not download the mod.

Willows

Updated Demo!

Big news for Willows! In the next few weeks we will have an updated demo of the game that will include a bit more content up on Itch, Dega, and Steam. This means the demo will encompass all of day 1 of chapter 1 of the game.

Spanish and French Translations

The demo will released with a built in Spanish translation and an in-house French translation soon to follow. We plan to continue this translations for the full release of chapter 1, as well as provide a translation tool for those who wish to submit other languages to be bundled in future updates.

Please Wishlist on Steam!

With the game demo up on steam, it would allow people to wishlist the game. Even if you plan to purchase the game on another platform, wishlisting on steam boosts our visibility and really supports the project!

Plans for Game Release

We’re excited to announce that we are looking to release the game within the next few months! We will try to announce the exact date as soon as we are confident with our bug fixing and testing. Our goal is to provide a solid version with minimal bugs as soon as we can.

Additional Hires

The Willows team recently brought on two additional artists to help keep production flowing as we slot the completed assets into the game. We still have a solid chunk of work ahead of us but we feel confident in our skills and talent pool to get the job done in a swift manner.

Thank you for your support!

We wanted to share a few snapshots of the game with you and give you an idea of what’s in store for the Willows siblings. Thank you again, and stay tuned for when the demo goes live on Steam!
