Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson reportedly in the mix for NC State head-coaching job

Russell Wilson, recently retired from the NFL, has reportedly interviewed for the vacant NC State head coaching position. The Wolfpack is also considering former player Philip Rivers. While Wilson has no coaching experience, his name recognition could attract significant booster support and national attention.

• Russell Wilson interviewed for the NC State head coaching job.
• The Wolfpack fired Dave Doeren after a 3-4 start.
• Philip Rivers, another former player, is also a reported target for NC State.
• Wilson retired from the NFL in June and is currently in a CBS studio role.
• Wilson previously played for NC State from 2008-2010 before transferring to Wisconsin.
• Rivers has spent the last six seasons coaching high school football in Alabama.
• Hiring Wilson would be a risk due to his lack of coaching experience at any level.
• NC State appears to be prioritizing name recognition and booster potential with their coaching search.
