The Block Explorer Test: Follow Your Own Swap and See the Trail

By Engr Enuoyibo Samuel Chukwunonso, Founder and CEO of USDPrivacy, Kigali, Rwanda

I am publishing this on Nostr, through Habla, because the medium fits the message. Nostr is a protocol where nobody needs permission to speak and nobody can silently rewrite what was said. That is the same spirit behind the test I want to give you. Do not trust my claims about privacy. Verify them yourself, with public tools, in five minutes.

Here is the test. Think of any crypto swap you have ever made between transparent coins. Bitcoin to Ethereum, Litecoin to Bitcoin, anything on a public chain. Now open a block explorer, the free websites that display blockchain records, and paste in the address you sent from. Follow the transaction forward. Then take the address where you received the other coin and follow it backward. See if you can connect the two.

You almost certainly can. The amounts, the timestamps, and the addresses line up like footprints in wet cement. You do not need special software or skills. Anyone with a browser can do it. Chain analysis companies do it at scale, as a business, selling the results.

Now sit with what that means. Every swap you have ever made on transparent chains is a permanent public record linking your wallets together. A future employer, a curious stranger, a data broker, or a government analyst can walk that trail whenever they like. It does not expire. It cannot be deleted. Most people never look, which is why most people never realize.

This is the problem I built USDPSWAP to address. Every swap on our platform is routed through Monero internally. Monero hides senders, receivers, and amounts by default, so when a trade passes through it, the public link between deposit and payout is severed. An observer sees coins go in and different coins come out, with no provable connection. You never hold Monero yourself. It is the private tunnel in the middle, not something you buy or receive. There is no account and no ID on our side.

I am not asking you to believe that description. I am asking you to run the test twice. First on an old transparent swap, where you will see everything. Then, if you try a routed swap, run the same test and watch where the trail dies. The difference between those two experiences is the entire product.

Publishing this on Nostr matters to me because privacy tools and open protocols belong together. A swap service that respects you should be described on a publishing protocol that respects you too. No algorithm deciding who sees it. No account required to read it. Just the words, verifiable by anyone.

Run the test. Follow your own trail. Then decide what your next swap should look like.
