Netherlands COVID-19 case: Why the 22 October hearing matters

On 22 October 2026, seven claimants alleging COVID-19 vaccine harm face a significant hearing in the Netherlands against 17 named defendants, including the Dutch State, former Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, Bill Gates, government officials, public health figures and media representatives. Four expert witnesses address vaccine safety, financial surveillance, biological-weapons law and pharmaceutical regulation.

The claimants allege that they were misled about COVID-19 and the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, and that the defendants bear responsibility for the resulting harm. The case raises questions about informed consent, pharmaceutical oversight, public communication and the responsibilities of individuals and institutions involved in the pandemic response.

The expert testimonies: initially refused, now submitted
The claimants sought to have four expert witnesses give oral evidence in court. Their request was initially refused yet following objections and further efforts by the claimants’ legal team, recorded expert testimonies were prepared and submitted. The testimonies are harrowing (just over an hour each).

Four expert video testimonies

The dispute over how this evidence should be presented makes tomorrow’s hearing particularly significant for those following the case.

Four experts address different areas of the claimants’ arguments, spanning vaccine safety, financial surveillance, biological-weapons law and pharmaceutical regulation.

Dr Mike Yeadon

Vaccine safety and pharmacology

Yeadon is a pharmacologist with a PhD in respiratory pharmacology. He spent 24 years in pharmaceutical research and development and was formerly Pfizer’s Vice President and Worldwide Head of Allergy and Respiratory Research.

He challenges the safety of COVID-19 vaccines, raising concerns about their design, potential toxicity and reproductive effects. He has also alleged that the products were deliberately designed to cause harm.

Catherine Austin Fitts

**Digital surveillance and financial control

Fitts is a former investment banker, former US federal housing official and founder of the Solari Report.

Her work examines the relationship between the pandemic response and broader developments in digital identity, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), financial surveillance and centralised economic infrastructure.

She argues that these technologies increase the capacity of institutions to monitor financial activity and control access to economic systems. Her contribution concerns the wider political and financial implications she associates with the pandemic response, rather than the pharmacological safety of the vaccines themselves.

Dr Joseph Sansone

Biological-weapons law and institutional behaviour

Sansone is a psychotherapist who presents the legal opinion of the late Professor Francis A. Boyle, an international law scholar who drafted the US Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989.

Boyle’s opinion, as presented by Sansone, argues that COVID-19 mRNA injections should be considered biological weapons under relevant legal frameworks. Sansone also examines what he describes as mechanisms of authoritarian control, including fear, coercion, censorship and institutional conformity.

Sasha Latypova

Pharmaceutical regulation and manufacturing

Latypova is a former pharmaceutical research and development executive with experience in clinical development, manufacturing, product quality and regulatory processes.

Her analysis focuses on the regulatory frameworks used to develop and deploy COVID-19 vaccines, including the medical-countermeasure system, manufacturing standards and the application of ordinary pharmaceutical safeguards.

She argues that the products were deployed through a military and security-led framework and alleges that important regulatory and manufacturing protections were bypassed or inadequately enforced. She characterises this framework as evidence that the products were functionally comparable to biochemical weapons.

Why the four perspectives matter together

The witnesses address four distinct but overlapping areas:

Vaccine safety: the design and potential biological effects of the products.
Financial surveillance: the development of digital identity and centralised financial infrastructure.
Legal responsibility: the proposed application of biological-weapons law and the analysis of institutional conduct.
Regulatory oversight: the manufacturing, approval and deployment frameworks governing the vaccines.

Taken together, these perspectives reflect the breadth of the claimants’ arguments about the pandemic response. They raise questions about the products themselves, the systems through which they were developed and deployed, and the institutions responsible for overseeing and communicating their risks.

The wider significance

The case raises questions about informed consent, the reliability of public health communication, pharmaceutical safeguards and the accountability of public and private institutions during a public health emergency.

For those following the proceedings, tomorrow’s hearing is an opportunity to see how the claimants present their case and how the defendants respond. The expert evidence brings together arguments spanning scientific safety concerns, regulatory processes, legal interpretation and the wider implications for individual rights.

The central legal question is whether the claimants can establish that the defendants acted unlawfully, that their conduct caused legally recognisable harm, and that the requirements for civil liability have been met.
