Armando Garza Lira, the husband of Crystal City, Texas Mayor Jose Cerda, was arrested by ICE and the Zavala County Sheriff’s Department for overstaying his visa. He was taken into custody following complaints of unlawful residency and transferred to the Zavala County Jail pending federal immigration action. The mayor, Jose Angel Cerda, was released without incident.
