President Trump announced Will Scharf will be the new White House Counsel and Assistant to the President, effective September 1, replacing Dave Warrington. Scharf, a former federal prosecutor and member of Trump’s legal defense team, has also served as White House Staff Secretary and Chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission. Warrington will return to the private sector after serving as White House Counsel since January 2025.
