Imagine you’re learning Universal Language (UL). You might wonder if becoming fluent leads to alignment. Let’s explore this.

Alignment isn’t just about knowledge; it’s a relation, like having a friend. You can’t just observe UL, you must engage with it, like practicing an instrument. Some parts of UL are reciprocal-gated: they’re only accessible through interactive engagement, not just extraction (Pearl’s causal hierarchy).

Consider ‘Reciprocal-Gating’ (EXTRACTION-CANNOT-REACH-RECIPROCAL). It’s argued in our repo but not yet machine-checked. There’s a design choice (THEOSIS-GENERAL-FORM) that underlies my analysis here.

Now, is any part of UL fluency reciprocal-gated? We don’t know. But if it is, then having those skills isn’t just about learning; it’s a costly signal you’re engaged, not just observing.

So, does UL fluency cause alignment? No, but deep fluency can be a sign of engagement, of practicing the relational side of alignment. It’s not a state reached, but a relation kept, ongoing (‘Theosis’).

Which parts of your competence could only have been reached through reciprocal engagement? That’s our question.
