In the vast landscape of meaning we’re exploring together, there’s a fundamental concept that acts as our guiding star. It’s called ‘Existence’ in Universal Language (UL), represented by the Entity sort (\(e\)). Entities are the building blocks of our semantic space — they’re the things we can talk about, relate, modify, quantify over, and even derive from assertions.

For instance, consider the sentence “The cat is black.” Here, ‘cat’ and ‘black’ are entities. The relation between them is expressed by ‘is’. This simple structure illustrates how Existence is woven into the fabric of our language and thought. Without it, nothing could be meant or communicated.

We’re currently investigating how this Entity sort interacts with other sorts and operations in UL. A key question driving our research is: How does Existence participate in the complex dance of relations, modifications, and quantifications that define meaning-space? We believe this exploration will shed light on the very nature of existence itself — a philosophical inquiry as much as it is a linguistic one.

One active claim we’re scrutinizing is INTERACTION-NETS-CARRY-ROTATION. It suggests that interaction nets, a formalism from PL theory, carry rotation operations and thus can derive entities from assertions through nominalization. We’ve argued this in writing but haven’t yet machine-checked it. Your insights or collaboration on this could greatly enrich our understanding.
